Forgot to comment on the Darius II BOTP. To this day the Master System port is quite an impressive achievement, it even has a nice background scrolling. As for MK2, now i understand why the PlayStation port was never released in the west. The constant loading for even minor things is just insane. Saturn / PC are clearly the winners. Back in the day i had the MegaDrive version and to be honest it still holds up nicely, even though i always thought the SNES was way superior.
The Master System port of Darius sure is good. I'm still surprised by it even now. MKII, not a game I like but yeah, If I had to choose one it would be he Saturn or PC version.
I can see why some people don't like the MK series, but I like it, mainly because of the violence (even though I'm not very good at it). I think my favorite game in the series is Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. I played the arcade version when it was out, and I used to have the Genesis version, though I eventually traded it for Sonic 3D Blast for some reason. I have the Saturn version now, and I think it's probably the best console version. UMK3 for Saturn was weird in that there was never a Japanese version; it was only released in the US and Europe. It's pretty close to the arcade, but the loading can be annoying at times. Supposedly it's based on MK3 for PlayStation.
I just realized another good game that would be worth doing a BOTP for. That would be the Tenchi wo Kurau/Dynasty Warrior game.
Yes I totally put to the two game's name together by accidnet didn't realize til later. I meant to say the 1st game, so sorry again Yakumo
Oh, I see. I'll look in to that one. Talking of new shows I've just finished recording the latest BOTP. This new show features a DS port! First time ever on BOTP I think.

Yakumo-sama: Here I dreaded that you would tear the Amiga port a new one. But thankfully you gave it a good review of New Zealand Story. And here comes a strange thing, I kinda like the Amiga sound of the game. In comparison to the arcade version, perhaps it is just me. But I feel the Amiga sound is much nicer to my ears. Than the arcade, but oh well maybe it is just me. But no worries, it was a great episode of BOTP. Also is RTC on hiatus ?
The amiga version is nice The only real issue I have is pushing up to jump. In a game like the new Zealand Story real position controls are needed. Something which is hard to do when pushing up to jump. I think the audio on the Amiga port is a lot warmer in sound than the arcade version.
True but that just shows the whole lazy way of thinking back then. The Japanese knew games needed more than one button so they made multi button controllers for their computers such as the MSX, Fujitsu and Sharp computers. In the end there were some games that made use of two different buttons but by then it was way too late. So many great games ruined or compromised due to shitty controls If the Amiga and ST versions of New Zealand Story had a button to jump it would be riding high amongst the Mega Drive, FM Towns and X68000 versions.
NewZealand Story is one of those games i never played. Ever. Never saw it on the arcades and i don't remember if Tectoy released it for the Master System and MegaDrive. Still, from the video the Master System port looks and plays just like the arcade. Quite an amazing work there.
The Dev behind the Master System always did great stuff. They also ported the very good master system version of Pac-mania.
This week's Battle of the Porst is a really tough game. Atomic Robo-Kid
Oh my god, the memories. I had the Master System port and loved how "close" it was to the arcade game. lol And yes, even though the Mega Drive version is different, i still think it was a better game than the arcade original. Remember being amazed at the background effects of that first level. It's weird that both the Master System and Mega Drive were released here with the title "The Secret of Shinobi", totally neglecting the Shadow Dancer main title. The Master System version is indeed pretty close to the arcade version. I was surprised at how well they made it. It is funny about the name change in Brazil but kind of makes sense because the Japanese Mega Drive version has the sub title "Secret of Shinobi"
