Seems SEGA wants to bring back this jewel another time... mmmm Nights into dreams for a Sony console... hahahah! tempus fugit!!! Well,, i have seen the news at Seganerds. Would be cool to se Yakumo's face now. I think that if the title is really great on ps2 i will purchase it.
It's a remake or a Sega Ages title? And if it's a remake, why not make it on Xbox360/PS3? PS: What Yakumo has to do with this news? Just because he like Sega and hates Sony, like most of us?
very true, good idea to try and steal a bit of the big N`s thunder, i`ll be more than happy to play through it no the ps2, the new wii game looks like a confused offshoot in my opinion.
I am speechless h:h:h: (sorry, but I just had to. This is such good news! And, I don't have to buy a Wii now :110
As we speak, I'm sitting here, stroking my chin, asking myself "why?". Is the 360 not worthy? Or the PS3? especially since neither play PS2 games :-(
It`s true a 360/PS3 version would`ve been a better idea but you know Sega Sammy they like to scrimp, a PS2 versions can probably be rushed out the door. If they did make a proper next gen remake it might aswell be a version of the new Nights game with all the bad voice acting etc. They better not fuck up the music!
PS2 > PS3/360 1. Cheaper to make as a ps2 title. 2. Will sell a lot beter in japan on Ps2 then either system. Personaly I wish it was PS2/PSP. I would love some portable nights. (Yes I did play the gba nights and it was awsome).
Yeah the original did have a wide screen option (16:9) but to be honest I've tried it on a wide screen hd tv and it isn't that drastic of a difference. Still even though I got this game complete with 3d control on Saturn I might have to pick this up.
I feel as if I should be happy... but, I'm just not. This just feels like a bit of a dick move to make it just for PS2. Making two new nights games...just feels like a move to "milk the franchise" I mean haven't we all been going crazy following the development of the sequel? Couldn't they have at least let that come out first without this news. Its seems kind of silly for them to hamper the sales of the Wii version. As Barcode said
I think those are the main reasons too. They can do a Nights game on a console with a huge user base, with almost no effort to make the franchise popular again with a new generation of gamers (we have to admit there's a lot of players who have never heard of the original Nights on Saturn). Using the PS2 will mean there's not a huge graphical difference between both games, so people who try the remake and like it will seriously consider trying the Wii game too (if the game were to be made for PS3/360 it would be more difficult to adjust to the lower graphics, even with Wii control). It would have been great to see a direct port of the original as a XBLA/PSN game too.
Nights was revolutionary back in the day but it won't cut it on the PS2. It will prove mediocre in my view, because both the gameplay and the concept have been done better since. Additionaly, the horrible Ps2 thumbstick is NOTHING like the original's dreamy 3d Controller. For all it matters, they could have just made it a Wii title, since so many Ps2 titles get ported to the Wii anyway.
Truthfuly why make it for the wii when the wii will have the newest game? The only thing I think could have done better would be maybe a 1:1 port to DS of the saturn version. Ps2 is the only other decent alternative to put this on.
