I do not like emulators because I like the console. Like I was playing super mario 3 on an emulator on the computer and I couldn't play it as long as on the nes. It just doesn't feel right on an emulator and on a computer.
Yeah, that's the thing, I still want to get some of the PSP games on PSN (I'm down with emulating PS1 games on it, but pirating actual PSP games is over the line). Though I'm still waiting on the back assembly. If it's either replace the laser or CFW it, I'll CFW it and put in a 64 or so GB micro SD card.
Definitely mod it. It's been really easy to mod psp's now since the PS3 was cracked wide open. I remember having to do the tiff exploit to install 5.00m33 haha. Never had to use a pandoras battery though. I login to PSN all the time on my PSP so you should be fine. I just bought FF VII a few months ago.
Tone it down unless you like looking like a ten year old. Not a indie fanboy myself, but they're the ones who urgently need more money to stay afloat so you have to expect some safe titles. Minecraft would've never been done by AAA studios (prior to knowing how profitable it is.) Here are a few examples: http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/122792/IndieGamescoms_Top_Experimental_Games_Of_2010.php
I think I might scream if I see one more goddamn faux-NES/SNES/etc indie game, doubly so if it's chock full of 80s/90s references. It was fine for a little while, but the fact that it's a go-to style is absurd. It's pretty much the indie equivalent of the mainstream's onslaught of "real is grey and brown" aesthetics. Wait, hold on. This sounds like an unreasonable generalization to make about a whole gaming scene, based off of bias and cherry-picked evidence that ignores actual ambitious risk-taking/experimental endeavors. Huh. Imagine that.
Not really cherry picking when it describes the majority. Nonetheless indies and fans of them are insufferable when they attack the mainstream and talk about how 8 bit styled platformer number 1029 is so original.
What's wrong with Indie throwback games? Most of them are pretty well made. I could spend hours in Retro City Rampage's freeroam mode.
