I don´t know why, but I think in Denmark it will at least twice as expensive, but it wouldn´t surprice me if it went up, and hit higher, since I remember one of my friends (at the time) got a pal PS2 for 10.000 Danish Kroner at his brithday. 10.000 Danish Kroner = 1710.54 US Dollars, and yes that is fuckedup, but it is the truth. And no I am not kidding, and in UK Pounds it is 918.03 UK Pounds, and when the 360 was released in DK, then it hit 5000 Kroner from the start, so it would not surprice how much this PS3 monster will be in price. If it gets more expensive.
I just checked out that PDF. At least when they say there's two versions, it's a real core and deluxe system. Unlike some other console maker. I think it's a pretty good idea. Those who want the extras can get them, and the ones who opt for the normal system aren't screwed for not having the extra features. Good idea, bad price.
Importing the console will be cheaper than buying it in europe then, with a retail price near 760$...
Forget it, no game could make me pay this much for a console, I'll just use my PC which actaully cost less to build entirely for the next few years (upgrading to the total cost of maybe $200) and wait for the price to not be insane. This in terms of the ordinary person is ridiculous but it may perhaps be a marketing trick, they may suddenly lower it before launch to surprise everyone.
Those prices are outrageous. There's no way in hell I could afford that at UK prices. I wouldn't be surprised to see them drop the price fairly drastically soon after launch. Get the big money off the loaded early adopters, then rake it in off the masses.
There is no way Im buying the PS3 at that price, well I just wait for the Nintendo,I know I can afford that.
Sorry but that spec Sheet MUST BE WRONG! Theres no use to a BLUERAY dvd player WITHOUT HDMI! Blueray is all about copy protection and without HDCP (that needs a digital connection like HDMI or DVI) then you WONT BE PLAYING FILMS ON IT!
Well the price is taking the piss to a good extent. But I don't think we need to worry as there will be only 2 million units around at launch, we probably couldn't buy one even if we wanted to. For me I'm afraid to say that Sony already has my money. The moment FFXIII was announced I was sold. I have already worked out that if I work evenings 6-11 for a week then I can afford a PS3, one week of overtime - not bad imho. However I will not be buying one at launch at that price if there is not a really remarkable game to make it worth my while.
I think it'll be auto-downsampling all high-def content for output via an analogue source, which is what HDMI/HDCP is supposed to do when it detects an non-HDMI-compatible output source. Renders the whole hi-def content thing pointless, but still able to play blu-ray films. As far as I can see it the lower tier model is for people who want to run PS3 on RF.
I want one to sit in my room next to my PC and run linux on it. Games can wait, I can play games on gamecube and the Wii.
Price is bad but who am I kidding, MGS4 sold me before they even announced the price. Only a matter of saving 2 weeks pay though really, not a big deal.
I absolutely fucking refuse to pay higher prices on anything just because I'm in the UK. This goes for all three systems, I'm fucking sick of it. £500 PS3? I guarantee it.
Nintendo should have gone at $299 to compete, but a $600 PS3 is outrageous, but it's a strategy. If mom and dad buy a PS3, they won't be buying little johnny any other consoles. This could be bad, but let's face it, buying a Wii for most kids is going to be a failure at selling mom and dad on the real thing, a PS3. SO...Nintendo has one skinny little window of opportunity to get some of those gamers and prove to them they got the best console. Unlikely, but it could happen. For most consumers, hype is more important than functionality.
Funkstar that is my problem too. Even for current generation stuff we have to pay double the amount in the UK for same products, even on Ebay. 50 pounds for a gamecube game?that's two new gamecube games in thes US. Imagining the price of the Ps3 here makes me wonder how many people will actualy blow their student loan on it, or use a credit card. Talking about credit cards, I m sure sony will arange some nice finance plans with credit card companies, and if they still haven't then I should be employed by Sony as we speak
This has got to be a short term price. I figure Sony knows that on the PlayStation brand and/or the fact that it's a cheap BluRay player, they could probably sell the six or so million they need by end of March next year at whatever price. I expect that this price will not last very long, then Sony can impress us all by reducing the price in a short amount of time. Afterall, the mums and dads didn't really buy PS2's until about two or three years into it's life, why do we think it should be any different for the PS3?
