These are the song values - we don't know the names since we don't know which value use what song (correct me if I am wrong).

Does the castle theme come after the earth theme? Followed by the city and village themes?
If so, then it might be stored in the same order as the final version. Then I could make a list of the music list in the final game.
Might be different from the proto, but maybe we could use it to compare the two lists?

Sinrevi: Here's the Pro Action Replay code that changes the music index on the load save game screen in the final version: 82E942xx

    It goes from 00-3E

Alright, I'll try it. (I was using a code to change the overworld music in the NA version first)
EDIT: That code doesn't work for me with the Japanese version, but it does with the NA version.

82DD3B2B = New game screen, is it normal?

    82DD3B35 = just 2 sec of music

I just tried 26, in the final version it's a sound like "STING" or "CLANG". Anyway, that's the sound effect that plays once when Idura was doing something with his cage in the tower of Sacrifice.

    List so far:

    00 Earth
    01 Castle
    02 City
    03 Village
    04 Inn jingle
    05 Tower
06 Rumbling (that long intro song that plays after Arek’s scene)

Yes that's the loading screen music.

That means the programmers didn't assign any song to that hex value yet.

Yes, that would mean you found the hex value for the load save game screen music (in other words, the Pro Action Replay code has no effect because the hex value before and after is exactly the same)

Then it seems that there's about 7 or so songs less than the final version.

    Yes I want that =P

    Anyway, the list:

    - This was tested in the NA version.
    - This was tested on the overworld instead of the loading screen.

That might take a little while, since I'll have to compare to the final versions of the songs.

    EDIT:
    First 100% difference!

    Song 0C

In the final version it's silence,
but there's a totally unknown song in the proto.

By the way, it seems that when you recorded some song, some have the first few notes missing.

Lufiaworld is not my website, I'm just a moderator on the forum there, and I also have access to the newsposting system =)

By the way, words don't do justice for things like music. If it's okay, I'd like to record some comparison music later? (when I'm done analysing)

So far... the biggest differences. (I haven't listened to all yet)

    0C
This song does not exist at all in the final game. It’s very upbeat.
    0E
The Excerion still has its longer intro, that can only be heard on the Soundtrack OST CD.
Lufia DS does use this longer version ingame.

    30
This song is another one that does not exist in the final game.
This sounds like a sad version of the world map. Similar like how in Lufia I they used a variation of the world map theme as one of their sad music tracks. Has flute and harmonica as main instruments.
