We can discuss that over a PM. And I'll look at the link to determine what can be done.

I've had the same problem as z0n1.
Had to hardwire the SD to the serial port.
Also the + &- legend for the LED is incorrect and needs reversing.
Seem to be reading the card but crashes on the game boot up screen.
Shows the disc logo and a splurge of digital mess at the top.
    Any ideas?

Hardwire bypassing the addon board? Not sure about the other boot up problem as it's likely the SD card or Dreamshell not being compatible with the iso you're trying to load. What game and Dreamshell version are you using?

Yes wired directly from the serial connector directly to the SD card holder pins and its now reading the SD.
There is something odd with the serial pcb and flat cable.
Had the games in a folder originally which it didn't like.
Placed them in root and some are playing.
    Very touchy stuff.
I've also put an all region bios in.
    Using Dreamshell version 4.

Perhaps the solder joints on the SD Addon board's ribbon connector need a reflow with a bit of extra solder.

Had tested all connection continuity wise and looked OK.
Soldering not an issue as I could see .
I went through all if it many times before I resorted to hard wiring.
I only did so as somebody else posted that's what they had done.
I've installed an all region chip and hard wired this mod and that all works OK now.

Weird, did you see if there was power going to the SD card? So you tested continuity from the Serial pins to the ribbon connector on the SD Card board? or was it to the SD card pins?

pinned points from dreamcast serial connector to pcb connectors and on the other pcb connector to all points on the SD connector and all other point and all ok.
    Power correct too.
Cable also looks to be fine.
I think it's something strange with the cable connector combination.
    Maybe alignment?
    Bad connectors? More likely.
    Baud rate bottleneck? not sure.
I dont know what the baud rate the serial is amybe its an issue.
Led + & - incorrect but swapped connections and led works ok. You have to be careful with led's as they useally have long pins as Anode + and short to cathode -. Also usually Cathode is the cup shaped part inside but this can also be different.

I've screwed it back in and left it hardwired.

I guess it's the connector since I've never had issues with the older ones till now with these newer batches. I'll keep an eye on them in the future.

So you can us this the play iso files from a SD card? With this installed you can still use a game cd like normal?

Yes but iso has to be converted to SDISO format and not all games are compatible. There are numerous compatibility lists out there, you can also rip your GDROMS with this.

Installed and works great, thank you for making this type of stuff for us all helder :)

I also had issue with the addon board. Couldn't get it to work soldering direct to serial port.
I did get it to work using some wires direct from serial port pins to pins of the addon board ribbon cable.

Also noticed either the + and - for the led are backwards or the anode leg of the led that comes with it is wrong. I may dig into that more and try some led's i have around here somewhere to see if its the led or the board marking.

anyway, does work great but latest design of addon board seems to have something amiss.

I'm going to have to check that addon board for continuity before soldering the ribbon connector on.

Yea, I think the problem lies somewhere between ribbon connector and pin sockets. I traced it to pin connector and wired directly to it and it worked great for me. Still great product.
