just got mine in the mail today ( our post service sucks, it was shipped from Slovenia 16.06 and it took almost a month to get here , f**k it it's only 1000 km how did they send it by foot ??? )
I installed it but could not test it, I don't have blank CD to burn the dreamshell at the moment, just noticed that there is a LED soldered to the board, I forgot it, is it necessary or it can work without it ?

P.S. I got the bios chip but during straightening the legs one fell off so, can not install it, I'll probably order another one

Led is there as an option to see activity when reading/writing to the SD is going on. Most people use it but you don't have to, also be sure to use at least a class6 SD card since Dreamshell is a picky bitch.

HI just an update, I managed to get it running but after spending whole day messing with it,
I soldered the small board the the serial port connected the cable run it but no SD card, check it 10 - 20 times all seamed to be OK
checked the connections 1 by 1 with multimeter,
serial port pin to the cable connector on the small board > OK
connected cable, connector on the small board to the SD card board > OK
    but
pin on the serial port - the same pin on the SD card board no connection ( only last 3 has connection, pins 3.4 and 5 were OK use the image below as port pins reference)
the other connections were broken, really strange since from the pin to the connector of the cable the connection was OK, means the soldering is OK, also from 1 to the other connector ( cable connector ) on the two boards with cable connected there was signal, but when testing from the pins on the serial port to the connector on the SD card PCB there was no signal
really strange, don't know what could be the problem, maybe faulty cable, maybe the cable has too big resistance, but probably my soldering skill ( I' m mechanical engineer not an electrical :) )

when I was ready to give up and order serial port SD adapter, just before I push the buy button, decide to give it one more try
so got me a IDE cable ( from old PC IDE HDD cable )
soldered the points on the serial port, and connected it to the SD card PCB ( removed the small PCB)
crossed my fingers and it booted !!!!! YESS

    really strange problem
I definitely don't blame you, it was probably y mistake with bad soldering, but just to let you know

    Chears

Could have been a bad cable, did you test each pin for continuity on the cable? Where did you solder wires on the PCB? was it behind the SD Connector? or to the ribbon connector pins? Maybe bad trace? I checked all boards to be sure all traces were good including no shorts to ground. Well glad you got it working none the less and if you buy another in the future I'll give you a discount.

Have a look at the first post images to see if it's something you can do. I don't know your level of soldering to give you an answer but they are as easy as it gets as long as you have some soldering experience. Line up the addon board to the serial connector pins and put a little solder on each pad and done.

    Hi Helder,
Very nice mod. I could buy some units. My goal is to have a kind of "coder cable" at the end, in order to allow a VS link, as I tried and explained on my (french) website (this isn't advertise) :
    http://topdream.imaginux.com/topliste.php?fiche=27

Would it be easy to build a DB9 PCB (or so), with a MAX3232CPE for example ?
Could you build it, or could I mod the SD PCB to build it ?
    Thanks :)
