F/S Dreamcast Internal SD Mod

Damn that's a nice install so can't say much about it, only thing to consider is the ribbon orientation. Did the contacts face down with the blue back facing up? I say this because on my first pictures it's upside down because of different oriented connectors at the time and some people used that picture as a reference. Also do LED light up when you have a car in there and on boot up?

 

ok interesting update. Good call on the line, it was upsidedown. So it's now orientated properly. I haven't installed the led yet. Will do that here soon. So, the boot disc will only boot if the sd is removed while it boots. Otherwise, it either rejects or boots into the audio cd. I think this is a step forward almost there but not quite.

as a side note, the boot loader only seems to actually boot part of the time, which is making testing wierd.

 

ok, it works the boot disc just feels janky or it's the blanks i'm using lol. Will pick up some different blanks. Thanks!!!

 

Glad you got it sorted out and I guess I will leave a note about the ribbon in the first post or if you still have it open and take another high quality pic I can use that if you don't mind.

Can you tell me the capacity and type of card (Sandisk,kingston..) of class 10 you tested?

I used a kingston 8gb or 16gb can't remember but I believe 32GB is the max it can take and likely Sandisk will work as well. Maybe the customers of my board can reply as well with what they use and we can probably compile a list.

Wow thanks for the free publicity! Is anyone interested in a Micro SD solution? not sure which cards are compatible but the board would be alot smaller too. I'm throwing some ideas around of having an SD and Micro SD version sometime down the road.

should the device light up once the dreamcast is turned on? or do you need to load the software first, etc. just tested my soldering job without putting the system back together and unable to get the light to shine....
