He's a Chinese buyer in electronics. It's probably easy for him if he buys from the dealers.

That makes sone sense, but aren't the GB BOY, GB BOY COLOUR, and GB BOY COLOUR SP (as I will now refer to the SP style unit as) long out of production? Taking the SP into account, the latest known GB BOY COLOUR SP units are probably around a decade old (2002 - 2006). I could be wrong, but since the GB BOY COLOUR SP is the same thing but in a new case with a re-chargeable battery, I can't imagine it taking too long to make. I would guess the first units were made around late 2003 and the last around early 2005. That said, there shouldn't be such an abundance of units, unless this is all from some sort of warehouse kongfeng used to own.
    HMM...

He was telling me that it's hard to sell these units in China and was very surprised that people in the west wanted such stuff. The seller seems like a good guy. I'd be interested in other cloned items that improve over the original in the future.

Yes, generally these items don't sell well in China since they don't really appeal to the mass market. These days it's all iPhoney crap and PSP MP4 players which is kind of disappointing. This seller is probably just selling dead-stock he happened to stumble upon.

As for clones, they do have others too. Like GB/GBC clones built into GBA cases with back-lit screens, GBA clones with SD Card/USB ports for loading data into memory, etc. But those are kind of things don't sell as much ether.

I guess that makes sense. I was mostly interested in this item because it has probably been out of production for a decade and is a hardware clone. Hopefully, I can buy one of his other hardware GB clones sometime in the future. Plus, I am sure with all the success he had selling the GB BOY COLOUR, he might be promoted to locate more.

THE FOLLOWING IS INFO WHICH WAS LOST DUE TO THE RECENT ATTACK ON THE SITE

I had also asked if anyone else had the internal speakers on the unit continue to play sound when using earphones.

Lucky, there wasn't much of importance lost from this thread.

Mine arrived today with a box it's pretty nice, I think I have a new gameboy of choice for gb and gbc games.
My speakers stop playing the music when the headphones are plugged in

Picked mine up from the post today too. I've been playing links awakening on my official GBC this week and the GB boy blows it out of the water. I have to say I prefer the clone to the original hardware.

The screen is bright and vibrant (although it has one dead pixel), and the audio quality is superior in my opinion.

Got mine a couple days ago. Loved the bright screen, a,b buttons felt mushy but overall its worth the $20. Currently messing around with Pokemon Red and Oracle of Ages

How is the aspect ratio in person compared to a real GBC?

How about the sound? I've read that the system doesn't like pitch bends even in commercial games.

Someone should do a proper recording (using the audio jack) of the same game on both clone and original hardware. Various songs would be good too.

I don't find the slight difference in aspect ratio noticeable in person. If I can dig out an aux cable I might do an audio comparison.
