your post reeks of fan-boyism. How can you say nights will blow when the game hasn't even taken its final form, nor you ve played it?

    Stop acting like a child.

I wanted a Wii when they came out, all my buds got one but I was broke at the time and decided to get a 360 instead. Glad I did, I love Wii but they have a total of 4 games, the most played being Zelda and Resident Evil 4. I have like 20+20 arcade games on my 360, so I think it has more fun in it, but I do really want a Wii for Metroid.

Man you just make things easier for me....

Of all those games above the only decent enough is super paper mario (I mentioned metroid dude!) since both mario party and wario ware blow ass and are the joke of every casual gamer out there...

Seriously theres are no "tons" of games coming to the wii, and quite honestly that pisses me off even more than the wii itself cuz is going to be the 3rd time these a-holes at nintendo make the same dumbass mistake!

Maybe it should be a commandment: "Thou shalt not release a console without enough games!"

I haven't bothered getting a next-gen yet. Normally i get consoles pretty much as soon as they're released, i just haven't seen or played anything (yet) that would make me want to spend that amount of money, and would rather spend the money on retro stuff that i know i'm going to enjoy. I wouldn't say MS is losing the battle though, from what i've played it is definitely the most enjoyable with the best selection of games. I'm pretty sure the PS3 will come into its own eventually, when they decide to release some decent games. The Wii is the only one i can't make my mind up about though, although i have thoroughly enjoyed bouncing about all over the living room playing tennis, i'm pretty sure i'd get bored of the motion sensor fast, as i did with the eye-toy. It was great on Xmas day, still great on Boxing day, and then it was in a box. I thought the virtual arcade would swing me towards a Wii (being a retro gamer), but i already have most of the games so it just hasn't appealed to me like i thought it would.

I have played Sonic Heroes. I tried to find the charm , i loved the settings and the characters, but the gameplay felt buggy.

Just because one team once made a good game doesn't mean the rest of their games are going to be good. Same goes for the opposite of course.

All I m saying is that if the Wii didn't appeal to people's taste they wouldn't blindly buy it.

It is something original and there's space for everyone on it in my view.

The 360 , I also have, and I feel it's the best community console. I also happen to like a lot of its games.

So, having both consoles I have no reason to support one in favour of the other. How about you?

I don't have a wii but I have spent time with it. I do have a 360 and I love it but I just tend to not buy games for it. I seem to favor my PS2 over everything else lately. If not for Halo 3 it'll still just be sitting there.

Ok we got that cleared up.

The Team that did sonic Heroes also did Shadow......I liked it but not many others did. that's 2 out of 3 Nights could make it 3 out of 3. I just don't have high hopes for it being any good. I have like No faith left in sega at all.

The only thing sony has goiing for it is that the 360 is hitting it's limits.

    Yeah... that's a good point.

The PS3 has sooo much potential. It just needs to be tapped...

the ps3 doesn't have the special potential that the 360 does in graphics.

The ps3 could be perhaps used to enhance game physics, AI etc thanks to its powerful central processor.

This comes down to two things:

    1.Profit
    2. Shareholders

MS is PUBLICLY TRADED meaning decisions are influenced by investors.

If MS has lost 10 billion on xbox ( rough guess ), $170 million is a joke.
Some would argue that Vista is the result of this divided attention.

What it comes down to is: If Microsoft loses moneythis year, even after the biggest launch in history, there is no hope of them ever making money and the shareholders will demand a withdrawal.

Plain and simple, this is the truth. There is no advantage to
the 360 for microsoft. Their attempt to use it as a springboard
has failed. No one bought Zune, not even the halo themed one.
People are running away from vista, and games for windows
    is a joke.

I believe in the end, the shareholders will have enough.

As to PS3, with the Japanese bias against microsoft it's only a
MATTER OF TIME until it gets huge. If the US can support xbox 1,
    then Japan can support PS3.

Once all the good rpgs , mech games, and exclusives build up in Japan,
expect a stripped down PS3 to come out and blow the market open
    just like PStwo slimline did.

    It's just about time.

As to Wii, in Japan the expectations are different than the west.
In the west, all I can say is that they had better get games like Wii SPORTS in the pipeline. Most people who bought the system want games like that, not games like biohazard.

I see Wii falling on it's face due to lack of expected content in the states.

However, a lot of these people are content to play wii sports forever, untile wii sports "2" comes out.

    Just my opinion.

    Ditto:nod:

Nah, theres a bunch of consoles that had untapped potential in the past, but the PS3 just needs some games, and as soon as the bill gets too big for sony to handle, they're going to secure more than enough games to get some profits.

I say the MegaCD, Saturn, Dreamcast, VirtualBoy, 3DO, Xbox and GC had a lot of untapped potential, but with the high hardware costs of X360 and PS3 (and the obsolescense of Wii) I'm sure this will be the only gen where every console will be pushed to its limits.

Even though it's Microsoft, it sucks how money runs everything, no matter how nice the 360 is (minus the hardware dying, gotta admit arcade/live/etc is cool stuff)

yes, in the end, they re just a business, not a charity.

Nintendo's bean-counting strategy and walking on the safe side has proven conservative for us, yet "just right" for their investors.

You mean the Xbox division or MS as a whole? cuz as long as the Xbox division makes a profit/breaks even it will be spared when the budget cuts start.

The division thats most likely to get "removed" is the media devices one, which is in charge of the Zune.

In the hipothetical case that shareholders reach the decision to withdraw the X360, then I see two situations: the X360 becomes the last MS console, being supported during the rest of its "normal" lifespan, or they decided to pull a "SEGA" on the console and sever all production lines and developer contracts within a year, killing the console, the division and MS's reputation in the VG field forever.

With ny of those two decisions, we're fucked: if MS with its bigass wallet couldnt defeat Sony then no company will ever dare to enter the market, thus creating a duopoly where Sony has the upper level and Nintendo the low and portable one. Sony may make further incursions into Nintendo's territory (like a PSP2 or a Wii-like Playstation) but Nintendo is by no means able to compete with Sony in the exact same field.

Deja vu, I think you already said that, but anyways, they're a company and under american law a company which acts in a way that may hurt profits is making an illegal action, and in that case their shareholders are free to sue to shit out of it.

Well at TGS SEGA and a couple other companies announced that they will postpone development of PS3 titles until they see the impact Halo3 has on sales of both hardware (then) software.
This is also the case for other publishers - until a market is set and they are told by the sales guys (who pratically run what should and shouldnt be released) that there is a profit to be made they will not take any risks.
Also whilst Wii is having fantastic sales for both hardware and software the vast majority of titles are first party which is another reason why publishers are less wanting to release products on those platforms.

I wonder, how much could Microsoft save if they spend a little bit more in trying to make their console a bit more reliable and not so prone to the Red Ring of Death (Not even the original Xbox had this issue, and the PS3 was the one everyone was worrying about breaking down due to the cells). Not only that, but would it be a bigger profit just to cut the console in Japan all together and make contracts with Japanese developers for bigger name games?

We need Sega back. They always seemed to add something to the mix and if they can design a modern system with the same power/price ratio as the Dreamcast, with the same awesome arcade ports and orignal games, with an online service to boot, I reckon it could be a winner.

Of course, I thought the Saturn would be a winner too...
