I just got the last and possible final order of these since demand is low. I have no screw sockets but have 5 of the full panel kits for the toploader.

Just paid for mine with a RGB to component board, but realised my UK address is still linked to my Paypal account. Is it cool if I just PM you my French address it needs to be sent to?

Sure is, I haven't set up the postage yet so it would be nice to have so I can get it all packaged up with the correct address.

It will be this for the next revision with an addon board for the Headphone Amp which I omitted in both designs since it only affects the Model 1 VA7. The slide switches make it easy for anyone to switch between the filtering and also hear the difference on the fly.

Is your 1.2 version still available? I'm interested in getting one for my Mega-Drive II.

Helder do you have the new 1.2 Mega Amps in stock at the moment i would like 1 for my VA1.8 PAL MD2 & 1 for my Genesis 3 please.

Is it easy enough to solder up another switch to the already installed filter switch so i could mount it on the underside of the console case?

Also is there one revision of the MD2 thats regarded better than the rest?

They all suck but the MD2 VA2 & VA2.3 suck less. I have one left from a second batch just be sure to leave a note saying you want the 1.2 along with the Mobo version. Another user used switches with the 1.1 and it worked fine for him so I would say yes it'll work fine with switches.

    Thanks ordered!

Suck in terms of audio or does the MD1 have better video as well.

What makes the VA2 and 2.3 suck less?

Those models have the YM2612 which is what the MD1 uses for sound and those have the better sound of all the Models, all others use the YM3438 which doesn't sound as good as the YM2612 but there is info on why that is somewhere on the net (read it long ago but forgot where). Video for the most part isn't too different except for a few particular Models having different encoders, there is a threat over at Sega-16 Forums that breaks all this down for all models.

Alright, just installed the Mega Amp 1.2 and it sounds fantastic!! I just gotta ask what the bottom switch does? The top one is labelled as 'Unfiltered' but the bottom one, I don't know what it does.

Lol I assumed people would know what it does, basically each channel is wired to a switch so each one is for the Left and Right audio output being either Filtered or Unfiltered. Basically you just put both to the same side otherwise one will be filtered and the other unfiltered.

A word of note to whoever buys the 1.2 the whole bottom of the board is a 5v plane so it's a good idea to use some kind of tape especially on the vias. The new batch has 2 GND and 5V spots and you can use either but the one in the upper right hand corner is mainly there for an addon board for the MD1 VA7 so no need to solder 5V or GND to both locations:

Ohhh, that makes sense, thank you.

Recorded some audio from it, is the buzzing sound normal? It's not the Mega AMP since filtered and unfiltered do absolutely nothing to the buzzing sound.

Would a ground loop isolator fix it?

Try shortening the YM Left & YM Right wires, those things are long. On my test model I have short wires and I didn't have any buzzing on my test before shipping.

I think it must be to do with all the wires. I made the YM ones shorted and sound improved. https://instaud.io/3z3

I'll shorten all the wires tomorrow and see if it does anything.

Oh and is there a point to keeping all the wires the same length, should I just make each as short as possible?

Always make the wires as short as possible. I have a bunch of new stock of the 1.2 which can be seen on the first post so any and all future purchases will be of the 1.2. Be sure to tell me the Model and motherboard when ordering.
