With regard to Mega AMP v1.2
What I have not clear is the following:
If I install on a MD2 and I want the full shebang for 32X/MD/CD I don't need anything else that the board right? And I get Mega AMP out from the MD connector as a normal MD, and 32X if I use that ... right?

How about MD1 and wanting to keep also the headphone? What do I need there?
[again full shebang 32X/MD/CD]

[basically I'd like to retain all the audio feature but simply use this board as the only amp if possible]

 

For the md1 I use a headphone buffer board along with the amp(I include it free) but the volume slider is no longer functional.

Still have plenty of Mega AMPs available and something new that might interest people who work and fix the Genesis/Mega Drive systems. This is a board I designed to house a test rom suite by ComradeOJ from Sega-16 that tests the 3 Rams in the system as well as controllers and 3 different audio modes along with some other cool things and has an Image test suite useful for many things. This has 2 modes of testing which depends on system RAM and if system RAM is suspected as faulty a non RAM test to be sure the RAM isn't faulty.

Will the GOAC Mega Amp Mini work with the CDX or will only the larger variant work due to CD audio?

 

I have slightly smaller full version that will fit nicer than the blue board I sell. I have pictures of the CDX install points but nothing super concrete and don't have one to test myself so you might be on your own in terms of support for that system.

I recently bought a VA-7 M1 Genesis (the guy on eBay didn't post a pic of the back, oops). Since I don't have plans to get a Sega CD or 32X in the near future, and knowing that with my soldering skills, the less wires I solder the better, I thought that getting a Mega Amp Mini would be a good idea. However, according to a post you made on Sega-16, the Mini doesn't have a headphone amp. Does this mean that it won't work with the headphone jack on the front of the VA7?

 

In all honesty who uses the headphones? and according to the wiring schematics all the outputs from the Amp board go right to the AV socket in the back so if you connect it to the headphone jack as in the install picture then feed that into the TV using a 3.5mm to RCA cable it should work fine. The Headphone amp board can be used with the mini but you will have to wire to it from the board.

I have no more pre modded systems for sale sorry.

 

Great work on these Helder

The mini would be perfect for Nomads if they had an integrated headphone amp. Could you come up with a guide for installing the the full size board in a Nomad?

 

I tried but the person who installed one didn't have really good photos and they used the headphone amp on the system already.
The nomad apparently has really dirty power which leaks into the audio so he used his own regulator just for the MegaAMP.

Does anyone know if there is a service manual for the nomad as that will help figure out an install for it.

I uploaded the CDX install pics and can vouch for them / answer questions if needed for installs. I have installed both CCAM and Mega Amp in the CDX with great results! There is info on this at the Sega-16 forums in the Mega Amp thread.

Also, I am SUPER interested in that RAM testing cart...so cool!

A weird but quick question. What kind of wire do you recommend for this audio mod?

 

AWG 26-28 is fine, just use thicker gauge for the 5V and GND.
