So I finished the audio mod on the genesis and immediately noticed missing audio from things like sonic collecting a lot of rings (instead of a ring sound effect playing 4 times for 4 rings in a row it would play once). I'm using a va1.8 model 2 and am just wondering if that's what the va1.8 fix jpeg is inside of the installation pics. If not what is the va1.8fix.jpg and how would I fix the missing audio. here's a link to the picture in question http://imgur.com/a/ndNtw

Edit: So I tried the fix and it caused no noticeable change. Upon further testing on games like castlevania bloodlines it seems as if there is a channel or something missing.

Just recap those systems. You can also change some smd ceramic caps to make the system sound like the unfiltered MegaAMP. Check Sega16 Tech aid subforum for info on those.

Should I install the Mega Amp above the RF shield in a Genesis 2 to avoid CPU noise, or should I put it on top of the CPU to keep the wires as short as possible?

On that note, are any wires digital signals that should be kept separate from the analog output? I'm thinking along the lines of the N64RGB install.

Either or is fine as it doesn't seem to affect anything if it's on the shield or VDP. If you use the shield be sure to put some electrical tape on the underside of the MegaAMP since you can short things on the board by having it lay on the shield.

I was going to put some electrical tape on it either way, yeah. Thinking about it now, if I put it above the shield I think I'd have to desolder part of it to get to the motherboard, and that doesn't seem like a good idea...

    Potentially very dumb question...

For a Model 2 VA 1 install, for the two SMD resistors you replace with a solder bridge, you remove them first, and then bridge the pads that remain, right?

Yes remove the resistors then bridge the 2 pads they leave behind.

I lifted the 32X Left pad on my board- can I solder a wire straight to the resistor next to it?

Worst case scenario is I don't have 32X audio, but then again I don't own one...

Yes just solder to the left of the resistor. Use a better iron or one that isn't too hot. Cheap irons use high heat and can burn off pads and traces.

I've installed my Mega Amp mini (thanks for sending it so quickly!) in a VA0 PAL MD2. Everything looks correctly soldered to me and what audio there is sounds fantastic, however I'm not getting any sound out of the left channel. I'm using a HDRetroVision component cable and just connecting both jacks into an AV receiver.

Here's a look at my installation - not perfect soldering but no instances of a wire touching something it shouldn't and risking a short. I've also pulled the Mono cap. Any suggestions for what might be going wrong would be appreciated.

You have a standard av cable? Had someone with similar issues and it was their scart cable's wiring but once he tried a standard av cable (not the Chinese clones) he had stereo sound.

I've tried it with a component cable I had, same issue. I've got a quality SCART cable coming for a final test, otherwise I guess I should check and try resoldering the left/right channel points, right?

Clean those blobs of solder on the pads (5v&GND are ok) as sometimes the solder mask might not fully cover the whole GND plane and too much solder on the pads could ground the signal.

Hello Helder. Nice work. I've seen the samples from a lot of users and i'd like to acquire 1 Mega Amp for a Genesis model 2 VA0 (if i'm not mistaken - see the photos added). I live in Brazil and need instructions to pay you. Thank you, and Happy Holidays. IMG-20161220-WA0028.jpg IMG-20161220-WA0035.jpg
