The more you become involved with Japanese culture, the more will you understand how their traditional family life is defined more through necessity and needs than love and passion. The standards of the Edo period (men could divorce, have concubines to screw around with - but women could not divorce no matter what, and could be thrown on the street for having an affair) were still lived until the early 20th century, and the beginning of Shouwa period in 1929 moved the society back once again. When the war was over and the economic upswing and American influence on Japan changed society rules and expectations of oncoming generations massively in a glimpse, it also messed up the balance between traditionally expected roles and modernized society as the gap between 1945 and 1960 was very large and many old aspects were imported into a new culture with which they now conflict, i.e. the giri-ninjo concept.

I do not have romantic experience with Japanese girls, but there is certainly some truth to what GP and Yakumo said. While no every marriage is sexless, the family and social obligations play a larger role than individual passion. Studies on the effects of Japanese collectivist culture and self-concept of the Japanese confirm this trend. Easier ways to examine it would be Japanese film, especially those by Mizoguchi, Ozu, Koreeda display conflicts and central themes of Japan in a wise way.

both husbands spending hundreds of hours on computer games forums, both sharing their marriage's sex life's with complete strangers on-line. Both spending money on their hobbies, one making computer game videos and another wondering around Shibuya taking candid photographs of school girls, hobos, smokers and mental people.

Meenwhile they are raising kids, possibly working too. How is the kid's English? Perfect? Do they spend time as families,? Do they give their wives treats and breaks?

There are always two sides to a story, but I have strong doubts that you are eligible to draw any conclusions. You are judging complete strangers' personal lives by that they post videos and photos on the Internet, what is wrong with you? Take a step back, what you are writing has nothing to do with this topic but turns into a personal attack.

I spend a lot of time with my son. Every weekend we play video games together, go to the park if the weather is good, go shopping and of course, do homework. My wife has more free time than I do. Just that when I take free time I do it in a large lump like yesterday when I went drinking for the night. As for the wife reading the internet sites, nope. That would never happen and even if she did there's nothing here that she doesn't already know about, so I have nothing to fear Oh, and no I haven't slept with another woman after marriage.

 

I see. my own love life is a disaster! Most guys only want casual relationships or one nights so its hard to me to find a nice guy that doesn't Chet on me! And others too for that fact!

Siurprised to read all this, here is me thinking (from watching "drift dvd's") that Japanese chicks (obviously not all) are these short little tight things that give the peace sign while doing some awkward duck face. When you see that you think "oh yea!", silly me.
