I sent an email yesterday and got the bounce back this morning so there is some issue with his email.

This is really good news, the more solution the better! Personally I do prefer USB over SD, since with this route you can actually have a FULL SET of games hooked up to your Dreamcast :). And seeing in the video the -basic- menu is designed quite clever with displaying the games in alphabetical organized sub-folders.

I wonder how disc changing works. There doesn't appear to be a button on the device itself for doing that. It looks as if you have to restart the whole system to select the second disc, etc. While that may work for multi-disc games, it won't work for using Code Breaker, etc.

Overall, great menu design and the USB feature is a great choice! In addition to flash drives, USB also allows for hard drives. I only wish the USB port was placed like it is in the FZ-10, but it's easy to move it.

Will only buy the device that supports code breaker.

@cybdyn Does your upcoming device supports code breaker or a way to swap the disc image without need to restart the system?

    Thanks.

I know understand why people want all-games-in-one:

    - basically, they suck at video games so they have to cheat
    - and because they cheat, they complete games quite fast and need to switch often

    That's not gaming, that's masturbating. :p

If you're referring to Code Breaker's use as cheating, that's inaccurate. It's one of the only way to make some games use VGA and it's still used to get some games online. I could have used a better example for disc swapping like Bleem, though :d.

Would rather patch, easier and faster.

Especially as on-the-fly game-specific patches should be possible to do with such devices and vanilla GDIs.

I bought one & here some more info.

supports ISO format with offsets at 11700 & 11702 he said he can add more if there are rips out there need it. He also said he will be adding more container support, ie, CDI & such.

cost me £131 all in, not bad for something that will make my dreamcast last longer & make it quiter.

he posting it today, so god know how long it will take to get here, but will let everyone know & take some pics of it working.

Cool. It would be awesome if he would include clone cd and nero format images also. I haven't ran into that many rips in those formats but there are some.

One thing is that he doesn't post his firmware updates anywhere so it may be a bit hard to keep it up to date (and even know there are updates). Hopefully he will start keeping his pages more up to date with current features and downloads.

I was thinking about contacting him to buy one to try out but im still on the fence. Its a bit much with the shipping to US.

I am watching this with mounting levels of excitement.
An IDE mod that I can build myself would be ideal.. haven't got that much cash to spend. Also, I happen to be sitting on a stack of 12 dreamcasts with no GD assembly (yes that's right, 12. Found an old abandoned warehouse used by a maintenance centre that just left the spare parts there).
While we're on the topic, is anyone aware of any similar projects for the sega saturn, or the sega CD/CDII? I think those two are much more in need of CD drive emulation, particularly the saturn.

I'm puzzled why he's gone with a solution that requires you to butcher the back of your Dreamcast case. Hopefully he'll make a version with an alternately positioned USB socket.

It's a different mindset. Some are driven by preservation/collection, and some purely by utility. And that's fine. But I agree that something that doesn't need surgery is to prefer in my book.

Desolder it & solder it vertically, but he probably done it that way so he could hide the devices at the back & no have wires hanging out the dreamcast.

Hoping I can get ahold of him. No response on Email or ICQ (though he added me as a contact) He's probably getting barraged.

Sold a mint complete copy of Sonic Adventure Limited Edition to acquire funds for this. Good thing I had three copies and well worth it IMO. Was gonna trade a sealed copy of Border Down LE for it but glad I went this way. I'm excited to see how this turns out. Suppose it only works for va0 & va1 boards not the newer mobo?

WOw! GREAT news that another device is hitting the "market". Personally, I think this one looks alot better than the GDEMU with no menu or anything, plus USB support. Hoping to buy this one.
