That orange console is cool and all, but I'm much more impressed with Marco's personal photos!!! Wow, fantastic. Hope somebody is archiving them. Especially to have Bill Gates there!

A one-off, interest from all over the World, and you'd have him sell it at a local event in Portland?!

One of the largest retro gaming expos in the US, face to face exchange, promotion of the local scene and event. People who'd be willing to spend thousands on the system probably could afford a couple of hundred for an event. No concerns about shipping.yes, absolutely.
Emilio told me that there have been some really crazy offers for it. While i believe he actually got the offers, I am really not sure that they can be taken seriously. Part of the reason i'd rather see him sell it in the NW locally if he was actually going to sell it.

If it were to be sold, please let it go to someone who's willing to share lots of information about it in the future. Nothing irritates us than private collectors who don't want to educate others.

I think Emilio should keep it though, and display it proudly.

I think so too. There's a couple of ideas floating around.

I have a feeling that the board and revision are not anything special. I haven't seen it yet to know for sure however. IF the board wasn't something to write home about, there were thoughts of possible dropping a Trusty board or a Debug board into the unit, and putting the original board into a Halo 1 Green or a Debug green case, and keeping them together as a pair. As the unit doesn't have a sticker to ruin, this seemed plausible, but it really just depends on how things go for him, and if he wants to do it or not, not to mention if there is any value lost.

Well for someone like me, I could spend thousands if I wanted to but it would be impossible for me to get to such an event because of my work schedule. :/

This. IF he sells it everyone just has to hope the person that can afford it doesn't just hide it away and thus an important piece of Xbox history is lost. This happens way to often.

I say he keeps it for a while at least. Maybe sell it in a year or something if he ever does. I wouldn't display it though. I'd be afraid of the sun fading it. 0_0

I sure hope Emilio holds onto this and not sells it at the Portland EXPO auction. Remember this is not only an XBOX collectible but also a Halo one as well. And when that Halo mini-series/movie comes out, this will only go up in value as far as I am concerned. So hold onto it!

*cringe* please don't sell it! image how much this will be worth in 5 years.

teasing us with pictures is gonna get the right person to make the right cash deal, keep the photos coming, keep making people jealous, and you'll see, you'll end up getting insane deals haha

    beauty of a console BTW!

Don't mess with any of it, leave it how it is and keep a display piece. There's many Xboxes floating around you can do what you wish with them. Not something extremely rare, rarer than the Hello Kitty Xbox.

Exactly - and you're in the US! What about someone who'd love it on the other side of the World? You think they want to stump up the cash (more than a couple of hundred dollars) to fly over there just to buy a video game console? They might - but not all of them. Again, some would be too busy.

You'd be really limiting your target market, and hence quite possibly your total sale price, by selling locally. Unless the auctioneers have an online bidding system.

Anyway, yeah - he should keep it and enjoy it! ;) Of course, insurance is tricky. Try persuading your insurance company that a game console is worth thousands! ;)

I don't really think this has anything to do with Halo. That is probably just what was available at the time to print on the front to see how it would look. I only say this because orange really isn't a Halo color. Halo is more green and blue.

It has nothing to do with Halo, but just by virtue of it saying Halo i bet people would want it.

Halo collectables are pretty dead right now, so I don't think there would be many heavy bids coming from that segment. I'm positive he'd get good money, but odds are it'd be from a console collector vs a Halo one.

Here is the original XBOX orange lid that I found in March of this year. The one I have appears to be more of a neon orange than Emilio's. If you look at the one picture where the Microsoft employee is comparing colors you will notice there are 2 slides with different shades of orange on the table. Emilio's color is the one on top and the one on the bottom is most likely this one. So our lids are a different tint of orange.
