With something you'd spend thousands on, i would be very hard pressed to not be there in person to collect, examine, and review the item. Furthermore, mail fraud possibilities, damage in delivery, yeah...too much at stake for a single system of this kind of rarity for *ME* to want to do anything like that with.

There is so much potential for loss or damage the further away he goes from a local sale. It doesn't mean he's limiting his market - Anyone with the money could arrange a local pick up. What I'm suggesting he do is limit his risk. He's my pal, and i don't want to see him get screwed out of something because of either a dishonest person or a shipping problem or anything else that might happen.

    Why?

This is certainly an interesting piece. And as said its very nice to see somebody who is a nice person get it. What I want to know is why somebody would really sell this.

Don't people understand that once you sell something like this you will really never ever get it back again. Whoever the seller is, or I believe somebody said that the owners wife sold it, they really must be pissed off haha.

That would be my guess, that there is a pissed off ex-dev somewhere in Redmond or nearby. Divorce papers have been served for far less. If my wife sold one of my rare kits, I would really have to start thinking about things, lol.

Like I said, it depends on if you want quick money, or if you want it to go to a proper home. The latter of which takes more time, more effort, and could earn you less, but if you truly care about the item thats what you should be thinking about. I know I could have a solid offer if it took into consideration time, but rushing to sale does the item itself a disservice.

I can tell you one thing, even if I was living in the gutter I would carry this piece around in a backpack! As ASSEMbler has already said this is probably the rarest xbox in history! If I personally had found this GEM I would hold on to it, give it to my son when I die, and tell him that my ghost will cut his balls off if he ever sold it. Congratulations to Emilio, you have stumbled upon something SUPER special! This thread has certainly stirred things up a little..I would absolutely LOVE one of those glow in the dark tops! (won't bother saying I want the actual orange Halo console, as everybody wants it!)

I'd like it better if it didn't have Halo on it, Having Halo on it just dates it really to 2004, mid to end of production run for the original Xbox. Maybe it wouldn't bother me if I was a big Halo fan and collected retail special editions. The cool part is that its a complete orange case and even cooler that something like this was found at a yard sale.

Well there was mention of some crazy stuff going in the NW at the moment at which the owner's friend said is not at liberty to say. Okay my conspiracy theory is that the the original owner contacted Emilio asking nicely for it back and that it was a mistake from his wife to sell it at the yard sale. The guy that worked at the Microsoft plastic factory did mention he contacted a friend who HAD(past tense) the orange XBOX with the Halo markings. He did mention the other 2(given to Marketing folks) could still appear in the future. The strange this is he mentioned there were a total of 3 complete Orange XBOX's. Maybe he contacted the original owner(his friend) in Redmond and said, hey your Orange XBOX is online and is generating amazing interest. He must be so upset at the moment. I actually feel sorry for him if this was a mistake. Anyways, this is just my theory. So much drama...it is very interesting.

Unless the Xbox was stolen and he has a police report, the likelihood of him getting it back is fairly slim.

Well... Maybe the guy has a kind heart. Maybe I'm a sucker, but if it TRULY was an honest mistake, I'd give it back. Hey... could find more info about this stuff in the process and make a new friend.

The 2004 date never occurred to me. Yeah, that sort of bothers me too now.

Not to mention it going into the wrong hands, and not being looked after. Then we may never ever see it again.

Well the person could always drive to my house. Haha I am not going to risk my job to go get an item no matter how much I want it. :/

It hasn't been seen in 10 years until now, I think we only see rare items when they do exchange hands.

Whats the point in selling? Lets be real here, no amount of money should be able to purchase this. This IS a peice of history, the current owner has given so much to the community, he should just continue giving by keeping it, if this thing gets sold im digging a hole in my back yard and burrying my self. This might sound odd, but my honest opinion is the only person responsible enough to buy this unit is borman, and i would be happy to know he did, this console deserves to be in a case, a glass case so that it cant be enjoyed, but never, ever played, am i wrong?

    Rant = over

I dunno about a glass case, that's a little 'noid. It just needs to have a loving owner that will keep it clean and damage free. It's just a really really rare case, the components inside are still worthless. If they were tied to the case via serial, ok. But we know that's not the case. No pun intended.

I would not be offended to see a trusty board in this so long as the case is clean and intact. I just want to continue to see it every now and then. :p

If this were my find, i'd never let it go. But i've been an original xbox fan for a long time. Might know me from my time at X-S.

The drama in the NW has nothing to do with the xbox itself, and everything to do with the egos of a few people with power over the retro gaming scene in our area.

May god have mercy for whom opens this Xbox.

If anybody will ever open it up shall the world be destroyed.
