Beautiful collection Parris - eveything is in tip top condition! In the words of the legendary pop group Queen, "I Want It All"......
... ... ... I knew you had two TOOLs.., but this!... ..is quite breathtaking Parris! You're drive to share info, and positive attitude, has certainly been a huge contribution to AG as well. Hope you keep up your interest in console dev for years to come!
Wow! What did I do to deserve that? Many thanks - I appreciate it greatly and frankly I think it's just how it should be rather than us all acting like Gollum with his little "precious" squirrelled away in the depths so no one can see what he's enjoying. Just makes sense really as everyone has a great deal to contribute and most of the input comes from much more knowlegeable collectors getting in on the threads.
wow parris excelent Dev collection you have and just like other people i knew you had 2 TOOLS but i never knew you had a Xbox pc tower(whatever you call them) Man i've always wanted a xbox pc tower since the first day i saw one, Its like Pc but for xbox and to me being a PC nut and a really big original xbox fan thats just the 2nd best peice of dev hardware i'd love to own.
There's a company in Canada that had 2 or 3 of them out of the blue. It was a recycling firm and they struggled to shift them on eBay. The problem is actually the import costs & postage. I've purchased twice from Canada and never again. No offense to any Canadians but your Postal Service (at least internationally) sucks! If you are interested in the Xbox Alpha 1 or 2 (that's their official names) then have a look here: Also check out Deadperfects video link: http://www.gamerhistory.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=377
Impressive. I'd love to have a couple of debug Xboxes and the PSP "TOOL" box myself. Especially if the PSP devbox can play retail games through its VGA out!
Yeah, I'd like to see that UJ - I have a sneaking suspicion we will have similar areas of interest. One item I never added to the Sony side, which isn't dev, but odd is the System 573 arcade motherboard / unit. I will eventually get around to doing something with it one day. To anyone unfamiliar with System 573 it was a Konami arcade cab based on the Playstation 1.
Only a "sneaking suspicion"? I probably have some pictures of almost all the items separately lying somewhere, but taking a picture with all at once would require a bit more time...
Nice pics parris and the inside of the alpha looks just how i imagined it. Would love to buy one some day.
Apparently it is mostly built from standard PC parts and someone on AG succeeded in replicating it and making an Xbox Alpha from scratch. Instructions were not forthcoming, but there were images a while back. The unit differs greatly in terms of the way the software functions and you can't get any standard/debug or development material to work on it. Thankfully, I obtained mine with debug titles stuck inside the HDD. I can give you the contact details (if I still have them) of the Canadian company I purchased the unit from, but I would seriously doubt whether they still had any. PM me and I'll have a look.
Im trying to collect stripey jumpers... anychance you could let me know where you got that rare item? ;-) p.s. VERY nice collection you have sir.!
Well, considering our trade on one of the Tools you can now lay claim to a small part (heavy as it is) of the Sony dev table ;-) The PSP kit really does attract a bit of attention. When I purchased it, I didn't realise how much it would become "THE" dev item of the collection. In truth, the Alpha II cost more. Partly due to Canada Post wanting to take me and love me all over in an unhealthy manner, then sting me via UK customs.... Seriously, it would have to be an exceptionally rare item I ever bothered to bid on in Canada these days.
