Don't be daft, I was just having a laugh. I love seeing the pics of all the dev kit you have and if anything it makes me wanna go out there and do one better.... Just one question though, your thread is titled "My dev collection (incomplete)".... what will it take to make it complete? I guess that situation is just as frustrating babu - the trials and tribulations of being a collector eh! :banghead:
1) I've been collecting in some way shape or form all my life. I have jumped collections from time to time, but consoles have been there since I was a teenager. Dev stuff is new to me and it has bitten hard! I have a real passion for finding obscure stuff and taking it to bits with a view to getting it running again. 2) No idea... I guess I may never get to the end of it! These pesky manufacturers keep building & designing new units to tempt me. 3) Yeah, it comes in fits & starts. I am a student, I have many other priorities so have very little cash to throw at my hobby. All of this is down to luck and kindness, friendship of other people as well as very badly listed auction items. I've mentioned it before, but I am also prepared to buy something in bits and work at it for months, but that also means I speak to people on here and elsewhere to gain knowledge as I am absolutely no expert.
Talking of doubles, I see you have 2 boxed NGC ProDG SDK kits there... if that's still the case would you be prepared to let one go? Drop me a PM if wish to discuss further....
Nope - nothing through PM from yourself! I'll send you another with my personal email address. Not sure what's going on here - I've been in contact through PM with other AG members recently, so I don't think it's a prob from my side of thngs......?
Thinking about it, you recently raised a concern re the "How Private are PM's" thread, and as I haven't recieved your replies I won't send my personal details to you via PM just yet..... Is your account here 100% safe? Are you still having PM problems?
Yeah, I think it's safe - changed my password and it's 9 random digits in length, no other PC issues and it was the one SPAM SPAM SPAM issue lol So, my guess is things are fine - not sure what happened but I have JUST replied so let me know whether it gets to you. If not, then I shall start worrying.
Another item... been quiet on the dev front <tumbleweed passes> due to work and lack of funds/time, however this was purchased damaged. Spent this morning battering it with a hammer - literally. The case was damaged and had forced one of the PCBs with buttons on it up inside the unit slightly so it was difficult to change the settings. Also for some reason the ON/OFF switch is stick at ON. Flick the switch and it remains....ON! So, will have a look at that later. There is AV output to a screen "Checking" as per usual, so a cart is required to go further. Nice touch having a USB2EXI built in. Also, I noticed the same connection slots and a blanked off side panel and fan exit on my NPDP Gdev unit, which is the same on the NPDP Gbox, anyone know what the crazy dudes at Nintendo intended on adding - or have removed? <Note this is an image from inside a Gdev not Gbox> Now to find a Gang Writer and the Tdev (brown GC). Impossible missions I tell thee! :banghead:
Hey, that's half the fun of collecting... discovering that you are yet further away from completion than you imagined :crying:
Parris, about the next piece for your arcade collection, I need a quick answer, you buy it yourself or I do it? Nice cube box by the way, you plan to build an igloo soon?
PM sent but I think I am too late - at work, so trying to surf and work OH: OE has what looks like a WALL of these units, long way before I reach that. Perfectly happy with 1 of each, but hey it looks impressive when you have a pile.
The GBOX is a stripped-down version of the GDEV, and it's an in-house testing kit, mainly geared for dedicated debug staff (Super Mario Club for example). This is unlike the NPDP-Console that is intended for presentations or beta testing, although the NPDP carts can be used on both. Inside the GBOX you will find no surprises, since it's a GDEV minus the SCSI-connecting card. The industrial rugged metal texture of the little grey box is as sexy as its blue big-brother's. A raw and simple, yet solid development item. Buy a gang-writer to match it however, since it's the only way you can ever use it to play games (writing .gcm files -up to four- on an NPDP cart) =) just imagine, your four favourite games in this sexy beast under your Tele. People will be scratching their heads I tell you (same applies for the GDEV if you wanna use it stand-alone next to a TV. An NPDP-Console would be the sexiest candidate for such a task if you're more into elegance than muscle)
Your collection is really awesome, espeically the way you lined up the system--> good taste in design. I have a few dev items that I bought for collection sakes but have absolutely no knowledge on how to get them to function. So do you just collect these dev items or do you actually get hands-on with them?
