I obtained a top box for the marquee from Sega Shed. Andy actually provided it completely free-of-charge, which was amazing! I need to find the plastic marquee and electrics, but no rush!
I must be the only person in the world that has no joy with sega shed, I must have pissed Andy off in another life... looking good though m8! What are you planning to do with the seat? Craig at Giz10p may have one (I spotted it off the side of a pic he sent me, no idea if it was available or what, I could ask though!)
I spoke to Craig about the seat about 3 weeks ago. He also had a card reader. The problem with Craig is that he is always so damned busy, so I will have to 'phone him I think. His offer was decent enough, but shipping might be high as it's a pallet job. Sometimes I wished I lived in the Midlands as it would make this hobby so much easier :-( I really want a genuine seat. It's the only way the artwork will be complete. Either that or I bite the bullet and just accept that it's not a genuine cabinet and therefore won't have the same look. Too much of a perfectionist for that! Not sure what your problem is with Sega Shed lol - Andy's always been spot on with me. I've bought a LOT of stuff from him in the past however. He told me about this top box roughly 4 months ago, I was going to buy it from him and said I was unwilling to pay the full whack (I think he wanted £250 for a complete one, which was expensive). So, I asked if he could do it cheaper. The result was FREE, for one he had lurking around after an Outrun conversion I think. So, much happiness! Yeah, I was shocked too! He's a good fella is oor Andy!
I've got a Naomi card reader and pcb controller, but no wiring for it, so I don't even know if it works. If you can make any use of it it's yours, I'll bring it over tomorrow. I emailed Andy last week after a Control box top top half surround, hoping he had a cheap one kicking around, I got a one line email back on friday saying it would be £250. It took him a few days to reply in the meantime Craig sold me one for £25 + shipping. The Inital D seat was off the side of the cab part he's sending me
Holy sh*t! You kiddin'? 10 times the price? Again....you kiddin? I've dealt with both Craig and Andy and they've both been nowt but gents, however I think sometimes prices can vastly vary not only between the pair of them but elsewhere also. It's the nature of this hobby as I am sure there are few real lists for set prices. I am shocked by that one, but sometimes I've purchased things from Andy and discovered he has under charged me. The free top box is a fine example of his generosity. On another note, can you email me the photo Craig sent so I can see about the seat and it's condition. He may have already sold it, but I can verify!
Nope, like I say I haven't tested it but your welcome to it Maybe it is just me then! PM or text me yer email addy
Thanks for all the MAME assistance - one PC threw up every issue it possibly could. Sorted now. I've pulled the unit and put the MINI N1 cab back to normal with Border Down running until I get the required PCB.
Not had time to do anything with it in the last week or so, sorry! I'm currently spending quality time with the kids and enjoying some time with the wife as she's on holiday.
wow parris nice i would love to have one arcade machine but at the mo my dad shed is full of crap and the roof needs fixing and have plug soockets ready for one day cant wait to see a video with it up and running if you have got the time
I'm curious to know how the analog (wheel, pedals) controls hook up in such a cab? I mean, literally. Sorry for being a bit of a n00b, but is there a special interface port/board/etc for that?
The unit I have is missing the force feedback, therefore one of the main PCBs is not in the unit. So, as far as this unit is concerned it's just the JVS I/O and a loom connection to the various controllers such as steering and pedals.
I've obtained the original ID marquee artwork, plus got hold of a spare ID3 (which will be stuck away or sold off). So, I need to get the marquee top box sorted out. Tonight is the night! Finally found a few hours I can call my own. Firstly, I nipped up to a local DIY store and bought some clear plastic. This stuff is 3mm thick and ideally suited to the job, but hard to work with. Try and saw it and it splits, try and jigsaw it and it melts. So, you have to score it with a knife (actually, my wife did the marking as my hands were sore - she demanded the credit, so well done wife!) If anyone wants to use this stuff, then I recommend using a really sharp Stanley knife, removable marker pen and a wallpaper ruler. It's got a large ridge that runs down middle to avoid cutting yourself if the knife slips, plus it's more rigid. A normal ruler moves around more on the shiny surface. Once deeply scored, flip the plastic over, bend the waste part upwards using the edge of the ruler to crack the plastic. It's sharp stuff. Use a pair of pliers to trim the edges, again using the edge of the ruler to avoid the plastic cracking.
