Hi Rocky5, so I've done some testing on a v1.1 PAL Xbox, not softmoded or chipped, standard 10gb seagate hard drive. I copied the exploit files to an Xbox memory card using a chipped Xbox and FTP. Then saved the SC exploit to the v1.1 Xbox hard drive. Booted splinter cell etc. SM kit v1.2 worked without a problem I tried the factory restore option, which when first I tried it didn't work until I disabled the shadow C first, PROBERLY A GOOD THING? I then tried using the UDDAE, this worked without any problems, the only thing I found a bit odd, was it said to remove the DVD from the drive to complete the SM? No DVD was in the drive? I hope this helps Overall it works great, thanks for all your hard work Let me know if you want me to try anything else?
Great, new there would be no issues Did you find it easy to use? & was it clear on what you had to do eg.... ---- The factory reset will disable the shadowc when it's finished coping the files to the hdd. (It copies file to the cache partitions & then disabled the shadowc & loads the dashboard to finish the reset, the menu where you get the options to finish restore or exit & cleanup) ---- As for the remove dvd at the end, I load the default softmod installer so it has to stay, because if you use a game you will end up in the same menu. ---- Thanks for testing If you could test the factory reset again & tell me if it works. You should get some info what it does followed by it coping files to the hdd & then loading a menu (led turns red) with two options, Finish Restore & Exit & Cleanup. Selecting Finish Restore should ask you what region your splinter cell/Xbox is from & then do its thing followed by a dialog stating its done.
Only predefined C:\ & E:\ locations to install stuff, how about having it so you can browse to the folder you want? Maybe add F:\ as an option?
Not possible using unleashx, well it is but it would require the exact path to be input via the onscreen keyboard & then it has to be a path my dashloader looks for. The main reason is bellow though. For simplicity reasons, there are 9 locations you can use + a custom one that can be anything you want. (The C partition is 485MB is size & is used for nothing, so free space for a dashboard) The problem I face is how I determine dashboards to load. Let's say you have a dashboard in C:\Dashboard\ anything in the list of dashboard locations will not be loaded because of the way dashloader works, if a dash path isn't found look for the next one, if not found look for the next one & so on. If I were to allow changing of dash locations I would have to remove all other instances so that the new path actually loads & unleashx doesn't allow a clean way of doing it. (I would have to delete all the rest, or rename them all, it just gets messy & the user can easily just make a new folder & plonk his dash in there instead) I also have a new build I need testing, I changed the layout of the softmod & how the eeprom backup is done, it's now silent after the softmod is complete, so it's clean & eligent lol I need to do some more tests & then I will upload it.
Yeah I guess anyone with a modchip and bigger hard drive would want to use the F: & G: drives for applications, etc. If this is only meant for a retail Xbox using the stock drive only then ignore me. =)
This is primarily for softmodded systems, though the Extras disc can be used with modchips & such but some stuff plain wont work on them. I dont get why anyone would use F or G for Applications as there isn't 4GB worth of apps on the disc so its pointless. E has sufficient space. C is for Dashboards E is for saves & Apps F & G are for games & Other stuff This is how I use my Xbox & how I have always used it. All dashboards are setup to work with all Paths, so if you want to install stuff to F or G they will see it. Spoiler: Example Applications C:\Applications E:\Applications F:\Applications G:\Applications C:\Apps E:\Apps F:\Apps G:\Apps Emulators E:\Emulators F:\Emulators G:\Emulators E:\Emus F:\Emus G:\Emus Games E:\Games F:\Games G:\Games Homebrew E:\Homebrew F:\Homebrew G:\Homebrew OK 2016 Softmodding Tool v1.0 Release Candidate on page 1. (I rebranded) I moved the NKPatcher for the initial softmod so this needs testing, it works on my v1.6 xbox so it should work on all the rest. These are the changes from the 2014 Softmod Kit, seems a shame to waste them lol Preview video of me installing the softmod from scratch.
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you I've tried the factory reset again, everything worked as you said it should. No problems found
Good good, thanks for checking that out. Yes a locked HDD is required, softmods don't replace the bios on boot, so the Xbox would error before NKPatcher could patch out the check.
Still working on soldering a USB port to XBOX controller cable. My skills are really bad. Got a new iron, flux, etc yesterday, hope that will make it easier. Will get back soon.
Release Candidate 2 is out, now use NKPatcher to do the NoVC for certain menus & changed the skin + I now install the correct kernel font when you softmod your Xbox, so 100% compatibility right out of the box. (by default the generic font is installed, this works fine but some Xboxs will randomly crash on the MS X logo screen & to fix this you use the kernel font for you Xbox kernel, I read the kernel of the Xbox & select the correct font for you, so you dont have to. No more user error!, if there is no compatible font the generic one is used.) Spoiler: Change log Softmod v1.0: 1) Now set the correct Kernel font for the Xbox during the softmod. Full proof now, its all automated. 2) Changed the ShadowC partition to a partition number XBMC or other Dashboards cant see or access. 3) Updated Dashloader to reflect the above changes. 4) Fixed issues with UnleashX failing to allow FTP transfers. 5) NKPatcher settings menu & skin rearranged. 6) Added a custom splash for UnleashX. 7) Fixed an NKPatcher compile error "LDR1 space error on kernel 3499" 8) Streamlined the Softmod installation. 9) Now uses my custom skin after the Softmod is installed. 10) Updated Dashloader with better logging. 11) Added setting indicators for the NKPatcher settings. I am having some issues with a PAL xbox, I even wrote in the thread below, do you think resolution problems can be derived from the method of softmodding? It basically shows a cropped area of the left side of the screen on the right (very weird) when outputting 480p. I have a softmod already, should I just remove the softmod and install this or can I install on top of the softmod? I saw that somebody was talking about Bios, do you think that if I install a NTSC Bios my problem will go away? Cheers
