Have you all forgotten that Sonic Rush and Rush Adventure were REALLY REALLY GOOD games? Sonic Unleashed would have been good.....IF THEY JUST KEPT THE Speed stages and nothing else. Chip also killed the game. So that said want some Chocolate?
Never played Rush Adventure, but Sonic Rush suffered from the same terrible level design as every Dimps Sonic since Sonic Advance 1, which is to say, bottomless pits and spikes everywhere. That's also the reason I've always wondered why people say it's so damn good. I really hope someone other than Dimps develops the new 2D game, since Dimps have proven game after game that they can't design decent Sonic levels.
Maybe they'll outsource it to Prope so Yuji Naka can rock it properly. Or better yet, outsource it to Artoon so Naoto Ohshima can give us another Sonic CD. :icon_bigg
Even though that Sonic Rush Adventure did suffer from bad level designs, in my opinion they were an improvement from Sonic Rush's.
I hope to god there are no more than three playable characters in this. I really hope there's only one...
As mentioned earlier in the thread I'm willing to be this will still be a 3D engine, but playing along a 2D field, like the day stages in Viewtiful Joe or Sonic Unleashed. The engine in Unleashed is actually pretty nice (ignoring the memory leak during boss fights) and the game had potential (werehog and all) if only there were some better level design and serious control tweaks. I think the pieces are there for Sega to make another great 2D playing Sonic game, but I'm not confident they'll pull it off.
Sonic Rush was pretty good, but Sonic Rush Adventure was a travesty. The platforming segments were okay, but there was just SO much bullshit in between those segments. Jet Skis and boats? What the hell are these doing in a Sonic game? Maybe it would be okay if these segments were fun, but they weren't. Plus, you often had to replay the same platforming segments over and over to get to the next stage. What a waste of time.
The pinnacle of Sonic was Sonic CD, it slowly went downhill from there, well rather rapidly from Sonic and Knuckles onwards...
Abit off topic i guess but whats the best way to play the original sonic games on the go? I know there should be PSP and DS emulators but what has the better emulator?
Good point i guese if it plays like sonic 1.2 or sonic cd where in for a real treat i say add loads of levels/action a few new special moves that dont mess the gameplay up and a great soundtrack too.just think how great a 2d game will look on a 360/ps3 all that power just used for 2d game it will look like your playing a pixar film from a 2d point of veiw.

Sega Nomad and original cartridges (and a lithium ion battery pack....) I'd buy a sonic based Mahjong game...
It feels like they're responding to demands, not like they have a real 2D Sonic game that they have a burning desire to create. Also, doubtful this is being made by Sonic Team or SEGA at all. Even if it was... there's little meaning in that today. So far it looks like 3D with 2D gameplay only. Hoping for better...

Sonic CD is fun but Sonic 2 is tons better. Anyway let's not turn this into a best sonic game,judging by SEGA's recent Sonic games this is going to suck too much.Sonic Rush and Sonic Advance series are nowhere near the classics of the MegaDrive.Cheap deaths,simple level design and too much emphasis on speed.Go play some Sonic Rush and then immediately after that some Sonic 2 or 3.Is there any competition ?
The Genesis collection for PSP Yes, Yes there is I think Rush was designed wonderfully and the Boss fights were fun refreshing and clever, plus great music. Sonic Rush is The Best Sonic since 3K Also IMO the last good sonic game was Adventure 2
