It's not really the same thing though. I know the history of S&K, but both games were games in their own right and decently sized. Also S&K had that whole S2&K stuff. I'm sure the game will be fairly cheap, but this DLC is getting tiresome.
don't be daft. there are technical advantages in releasing a said title in episodes. one of those benefits is that it allows them to have less stress and work towards completing parts instead of a rushed whole. This will allow them to have a product in the market and develop it/improve it at the same time. The fact that it's downloadable (for now) supports this business model and eventually all the episodes will get a disc release at some point. they're just trying new methods of squeezing money out of Sonic but that's not a bad thing if the games are good. Good by Sonic standards I hope.
I've got nothing against narrative content in games where it fits, but if I had my say, the Sonic 4's story would go something like this: "get to the end of the zone, then beat the shit out of Robotnik". The incessant need to inject storyline where it isn't necessary really is an irritation. I remember playing Mr Driller 2 on the GBA, there was a whole storyline about how he needs to drill to save... something? There was a robot factory in there somewhere? For fuck's sake, I'm a little guy with a drill who breaks coloured blocks. I'm cool with that. It's not even one of the worst offenders (3D Sonic games, I'm looking at you), it's just that this nonsense is more common than it should be, and I don't see why. I guess it's something to do with projects needing to tick every box in order to get the green light, but still. At least you don't see Microsoft tarting up Freecell. God knows what that would look like.

There's a "Characters" page on the Sonic 4 site, just wait until they bring out the next lameass animal friend! (probably a goddamn frog or turtle or something) Seriously, if this game sucks, Sega better shut down Sonic Team.
I'm not excited about episode 2. I want the whole thing done right first time. Compared to 'normal' game development, this isn't going to cost Sega much or take them long to complete. It's not like the old days of Mega Drive development.
Can't hurt to give it a chance. I don't really go by reviews, so I'll have to leave my judgment at the table until I get my hands on it.
If they insist with a story they may as well do it right like Pixar, and not a half-assed attempt to seem serious like most kid anime does. Dreamcast? GameGear?:lol:
