And why do you think people getting whole collections don't play their games?

Stamps are meant to be used too, and stamp collectors don't use them to send christmas cards i think...

"I think last year when I visited Akihabara the Potato's gold rockman was not mint, neither complete, but I'm not 100% sure, they had Sfamicom gold cartmaybe I confuse them."

They have both. The last year I have also see a Kuniokun Gold at Trader.

"I really don't care if they pop up in Yahoo or not, 8 copies are always more rare than 30,"

The number of copies is not always proportional to the raritie. The demand is not the same between PCE, Famicom and Saturn. For example Waltz have only 50 copies but it's very easy to find it. The Gold HuCARD have 200 copies, *4 than Waltz but on Yahoo you see much often Waltz that Gold HuCARD.

"plus the cardboard box degrades very easily, so find complete copies in good condition is, in my opinion, harder than a good condition Hu-card."

Yes, you are right. But sometimes box are the same between the commercial and the promotionnal version, like Rockman 4.

"If tomorrow a Cosmic Yakyuuken Kanzenban appears in yahoo will that mean is not so rare then? "

The difference between Rockman 4 and Cosmic is we have never see any picture of Cosmic, never in Akibahara shops and never on Yahoo since 8 years.
PCE have several "ghosts" games, impossible to find.

"Yes you right, I don't know very well PCE rarities and I claim that Famicom have the most rarities games, but that's just my opinion. I like to have a good chat with other collectors, so I learn from them like a leech :)"

Famicom have a lot of Not For Sale games, but with money, time and patience you can find all of them. We can see very often rare Famicom/SFC games on Yahoo.

"Maybe you are right with the quantity of collectors searching PCE and Famicom, seems PCE is very popular in this forums; in Spain, where I live, is one of the most unknown and oversight systems... Spain is different :)"

PCE is very popular in Japan. I think japan PCE collectors are very passionate and more elitist. It's just my opinion.

Lol Yakumo, 50% fee is a lot! :)
BTW I look for complete copies only, but thx anyway.

Is not totally done, I must find like 30-50 common games, but getting those is just piece of cake.

No, I was talking about the cartridge MD, I'm not really interested in cd based systems, dunno why but I fell more attracted for the cartridges. 32x, mmm, I can do this one maybe, but the mushroom is really an ugly system.

Try goign for the full Euro 32x set! That is one tough collection to complete and there are only 23 games (and 4 32xcd games).

But Primal Rage and T-Mek certainly are. Only a handful of known mint copies! (Of course there could be many unknown:)) But yeah, jp ftw, 90% of my stuff is.

Did you ever asked yourself why? I don't really know why :) but I love japanese stuff.
Certanly the artwork is much better, and there are a lot of titles that does not exist in pal and USA NTSC... but that should not be a reason for a collector, isn't it?
Now that JP MD is finishing, should I start genesis or another JP collection?... I'm not sure... Lol
I really don't understand that JP fever, but I have it inside me :)
    Give me some thoughs...

Time constraints? How could someone place 1500 games all the way through. But, that's not really the point. The point is that most of the games are pretty crappy.

Well for me its simple. I've been playing games since I was little. Once the consoles hit the scene in my time/awareness (I was born in 77), say from fc onwards, I and friends started to get them (one of my best pre prep and prep school chums was japanese too which helped). There were several import shops in the area so we'd import and enjoy all the benefits, mainly paying through the arse to play games long before they came out in the UK. PCE, MD, SFC onwards, great times. So I collect jpmd/pce/saturn as those are where my memories reside. The rest just followed suit when I became a 'collector' (and some formats I like are jp only anyway so what can you do)

And don't forget there are shed loads of collectors of pal stuff, of US stuff, korean stuff, brazilian etc.

Sometimes you "block" longer on "common" games that for some reasons don't appear, than for rare games...i remember waiting a long tim getting Kishi Densetsu & Shogi no Hoshi..don't know why they didn't appear when i was looking for them :)

And you must respect people who buy them anyway....tastes & colours can't be discussed!
You didn't answer my "stamp" part, how clever.

I played PAL games only in 1987-88-89 with NES & SMS...and i really prefered SMS to NES! :)

I still remember the first pong set built into a television.. RCA I believe.

I really don't fondly remember the old days, the games were mediocre ports.
The real immersive stuff hasn't been until now, and I won't consider it ideal until maybe the next generation with Xbox 720 or Playstation 4, etc.

The key for me is immersion, and nothing yet has that. Some come close.

People don't win my respect based on the merits of their purchasing habits. Well, someone with a well-picked collection might. Some who just says, "I like this system: I'll buy all games for it...even the shitty ones" has more work to do.

People who collect stamps are on a planet of their own anyway. Good enough?

For this I would have to say "sieze the day". Then again, I'm one of those guys that finds himself going back to old games much more often than to new ones.

In defense of all those (sealed) collectors...

It's not like they are pouring money down a drain (like the rest of us)....the items they buy stay sealed and retain their value. Sure, a lot has been spent but the money is still there - often more.

Unlike me....If I buy something i'll open it and play it. Give it 3 months and my scratched original disc of 'Rainbow 6 Vegas' will be worth about £3 trade-in at my local game store.

I just wanted to make that point...

Depends totally on what price they bought it at. The average game (even sealed) years later is worth a fraction of it's retail price. Rare games, sealed, obviously will have a premium involved, but only in a select few cases is it multiples of the price of a mint copy. It's usually just a bit more... even on down the road.

In short, sealed or not, games are a horrible investment. Only in a few small cases do they ever go up in value. Even rarer do they go down and then up. Hopefully nobody in this forum, or on this planet is in this hobby for prospective value the games might hold down the road. Sure there's the odd game that's fun to speculate with, but this isn't the norm. If you want to make money, invest in some low-risk mutual funds. You will make a ton more money (and can buy even buy games w/ the interest).

But, I don't think Adol is buying for this reason. In many places he has made it clear he enjoys finding the games.

That's the problem: people do that for their pleasure, not for winning your respect. In fact, they don't have to win it at all.
And you don't realize that when you have all games ever made for a system, you have TOO ALL the titles of your "well-picked" collection.
In fact, generally people start with that one, and continues to the next level if they want/can..

    Not really.
That is just showing that with your intolerance and disrespect towards those stamp collectors..they're thousands to live on their "planet" then.
You're on a planet of your own. Alone.

    Same goes for me.
