Because you're buying a new generation console solely for the ability to play last generation games. What's the point? It makes no sense.
This is an incorrect conclusion. If a person were to buy a PS3 "solely" on the ability of BC, then such a person would not say that they were going to buy the system when it drops below a price point. To further elaborate, by voicing an action to buy a console at a price point acknowledges that there are certain features that the person finds desirable, it is simply that they do not find those features desirable at the current or other price points. This, of course, is a personal choice based off of an individuals desires. This type of mistake in argument is called, the strawman; whereby a person holds a mistaken understanding of the argument, and then creates a counter idea based off of the mistaken understanding. Thus, the counter idea is not actually a response to the original statement or idea.
People buy PS3 all the time for blu ray movies. I do see your point, but it's still a very valid complaint. BC was there, and now it's gone completely, even from the top tier models. Luckily the second hand market exists, but still.
This is potentially huge news, assuming it's true. SONY will have beat Microsoft to the punch with a redesign, which nobody saw coming. The redesigned (at least internally) 360 has been long-rumored but hasn't materialized. They're forcing Microsoft's hand with this. One very telling thing is the package design. While the print design certainly seems legit, another very telling clue is the shape & cut of the box. A chinese clone wouldn't go to the lengths of using those small, curved cuts on the box flaps. That's a SONY thing. This news has got me excited. It could be a really good fake, but I'm dying to know more.
Actually, the word from many users is that the current PS3's drive has a much higher failure rate when used primarily as a movie player.
I've heard the same thing...and wasn't that the case with PS2 being used primarily as a DVD player as well? I had a lot of friends who simply watched movies on it consistently, only to have it burn out at some point, and my PS2 is still going strong eight years later!
It's been said a million times. Sony = Shit lasers. PSOne, PS2 and now PS3. Add Mega CD to that list as well. The lasers on them are a pain and guess who makes them. Yep, Sony. The PC Engine Duo also is awful for laser problems but I don't know who makes them. yakumo
It's for real. This story is picking up a lot of steam, although the machine doesn't look quite as slim fully assembled: From The MagicBox
So, i guess E3 will have some announcements. Any comparision between those boards and the actual model ones?
It certainly looks like ASSEMbler was correct about the front loading HDD, you can blatantly see it on those pictures. I suppose we're now just waiting for confirmation on whether it's an external PSU and the PS2 backwards compatibility status. Unless the guys at the factory fancy taking the piss even more and post a video of themselves having a good crack on King of Fighters '98 UM. Or we could just wait until E3. A couple of rear USB ports would be very handy and much needed.
hmm these new pictures are making things very interesting. I'll be very much looking forward to E3 this year.
I think either system I end up getting is fine. Cosmetic-wise, I like the all black 20GB the most, lol.
