The real danger in a war with North Korea is how it possibly could expand to include China and the United States, becasue that's who we're really talking about here. North and South Korea are just proxies.

The US is far too important now for China to go to war with it over North Korea. That is especially true if the North provoked the conflict. China like everyone just wants the DPRK to disappear, They just don't want the flood of refugees that comes with it.

I can see North making dumb threats and the South probably just deciding to forget about it. Even though it's like, war and all, I really think the South is a bit too lenient with the North. They just keep screwing with them and they do nothing.

No doubt this will be painted as "another foolish attempt by the enemies of NK who wish to take our vast resources etc etc. We will deal to them a crushing blow if they continue this path of folly for which we lay the blame entirely at the door of the US/SK alliance who envy NK"

Of course, the Chinese are already starting to say that the propeller and serial number isn't really conclusive proof that it was the North. Hmmm. Chinese have decided it wasn't the North Koreans and that's that from their point of view it seems.

Also, just as an aside, the Korean war didn't end... there was an armistice, but no treaty actually ending the war.

...ill be there for a month in july.......hmmm

what i find particularly uneasy about is that no one seems to really no what to do about it, they say more sanctions, but thats wont make all that much difference.

Sanctions. Just their way of trying to make it look like they're taking some sort of action, when in fact they're just doing nothing assertive at all. North keeps breaking them regardless anyways. I'm surprised to eve learn that they downed a South plane back in the 80's and nothing happened then. This is almost like a repeat of history, and most likely will end with the same outcome of nothing happening.

"But Pyongyang again denied involvement, saying the South's finding was a fabrication and threatening to wage "all-out war" if punished for the disaster"

Most comments from the North are essentially all-out war orientated. But I was surprised to read how extensive the trade is between north and south.

I know it's a flippancy but what if the South Korea say "okay , it's on - it's war" - i mean, we know all about how Soeul would be raised, but i just wonder where that leaves the North if someone actively calls their bluff.

I for one hope someone goes "Ok, fine. War it is!". Then North Korea who's primary concern is to keep Kim in power would go "Let's not be too hasty! I feel the winds of compromise has just hit us.". Because we all know, if a war broke out the best the North could do is kill people using 60'ish/80'ish conventional weapons in collateral damage. Otherwise, they'd be easily swept up, and Kim would ether be captured to be paraded around, or be forced to kill himself.

Agreed, N Korea going to war with anyone translates as suicide for N Korea... Can't see it happening, it sounds like political posturing and not much more.

yup - and the Kim power thing is a family business. A war would see an end to that gravy train forever. I doubt he gives a shit that the rest of the country is in a hole.

Someone needs to tell him that he has a girl's name in the west. And we're bigger than him.

    He'll collapse in seconds.
