It was so cold today, I saw a politician stick his hands in his own pockets to keep warm.

Can't make north korea any more poor than it is.

What could they possibly do to them? Make the air smell like dog shit over north korea for five years?

If you ask me shit like this is why we built all those stealth bombers in the first place. For further plausible deniability rig them to use Chinese munitions and let them think it was them.

North Korea has the 3rd biggest army in the world though, so it's not really LOL.

The US news paints North Korea as a modern day Yosemite Sam, but in reality they have a well armed military and nuclear and biological weapons. They also have support from China and Russia.

To be honest North Korea's NBC's are their only real advantage. Their equipment is horribly out dated and their size is no match for our technology. Support if it came to all out war would also be non-existent. The only reason China keeps them afloat is because they don't want a flood of refugees. If that flood becomes inevitable China will cut their loses.

Even with a North Korean defeat assured though it would still be bloodbath. Seoul would almost have to be written off as lost and I honestly believe that most North Koreans are so brainwashed that they would be wiped out before surrendering. Japan would also not come out unscathed. A Pyrrhic victory at best.

Exactly. And even if te equipment they have is outdated, it would still be a disaster if they ever decided to invade the South. Imagine what a few rockets could do to a non militarized area like a town.

We've seen it before in the 60's. Don't forget that even though Vietnamese soldiers had far less advanced equipment than the US soldiers, they still managed to inflict some major damage.

And if they have russian support as well they probably have a f-load of tanks to spare.

Still they would probably lose, but lots of people would die nonetheless.

As much as I love Greece, they would not have a chance against Turkey. The EU would have to assist. Neither country will strike against the other in our life times.

It doesn't appear to be getting any better... The North issued warnings that if the South continued placing equipment at the border, they would open fire.

It probably won't come to that, but still these are some serious tensions...

Although incredibly insensitive and biased (Since I'm not directly effected by it), I wish the world would just cut their losses and just invade North Korea already. Sure, it's going to hurt, but it will hurt only once. Letting the North continually get away with stuff is like slowly bleeding yourself to death. Sure it hurts less, but over the long run it's not worth the pain.

    that'd be very naive mate

if anyone can live with the conscience of killing millions of innocent civilians in the process and calling it as the collateral damage…
not to mention burn down one of major developing country in Asia.

What next? Nuke half of middle east so we won't have to deal with extremist/terrorist?
How about put up the satellite and shoot down clean(?) nuke to majority of developed countries on Earth…
We shall prevail and rebuild from ashes… anyone? ? ?

It seems now North Korea didn't like how China says they won't protect who attacked the S. Korean ship. Apparently NK has moved some artillery to the northern border and China has moved forces up there as well. Now with all ties being cut off between the North and South things are quickly going downhill. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if North Korea did something very stupid pretty soon.

I think that unless the South does something, they'll just continue to act like they're going to do something, but really won't. They only blew up the sub since they thought they were sneaky enough not to be caught.

They know it's suicide if they provoke war, they'll only let it cool down and then do something else behind everyone's backs once everyone's forgotten this. Maybe anyways. I could be wrong and they really do want to risk killing their whole empire they've built over the last 60 years :x

It might not be suicide though. Look at Vietnam.

The flipside to that though is how many have died and will continue to die under that brutal regime? How many lives ruined because of it? How many more nukes will we allow them to build and more than likely use against if it came to all out war?

It is the Devil's arithmetic. Do we allow a few million die at once and be done with it? Do we allow millions to die over time keeping the status quo?

North Korea can't win. Vietnam had massive material and logistical support from both China and the Soviet Union to sustain them which the North will not have. Vietnam also had the benefit of the US fighting (in part due to what happened in the Korean war) a defensive war. If the North was stupid enough to start a major conflict I would be surprised if the goal for the US and South Korea at that point would be to simply push them back only to have to deal with them eventually.

They have almost no resources of supply chain, so once you blowup the main military areas you'd be in for one nasty and long guerrilla war.
