A million times harder to track down than any Taroumaru or Radiant Silvergun: EMIT Value Set. While the game is going to bore the player very fast, from a collector's point of view I am really proud to own this piece of Koei history. I've been actively looking for this specific edition for more than 2 years and even before I've never seen it for sale anywhere.
It's nothing but a cheap cardboard slipcase and a styrofoam block, but it has a unique Saturn serial ^^

Super Contra & Hitler no Fukkatsu (Bionic Commando). Glad this package made it through the customs so I did not have to pick it up personally (especially in combination with the next item ).

I've yet to buy the Dreamcast-version but I thought the PS2 one w/vibrator would be a great idea. Damn, why do I have to be single at the moment? This could sure be some fun to introduce into a relationship

    And finally, some new DVDs:

I know the DVD is slowly dying. But before all those films like the Svankmajer collection are being rereleased on BR I'm an old man >_<
Watched Two-Lane Blacktop and Ex Drummer so far. Both are fantastic pieces of film, can recommend the first one to everyone who got disappointed by Death Proof (like me, what a girlie shit-chat crap) as it is a very honest gearhead movie. Ex Drummer is about a chavy punk-band in Belgium, very tough content though (violence, rape, splatter, drugs) but really fascinating. It sucks you in.
The Jan Svankmajer collection is one of the most beautiful boxsets of that kind that I've had my hands on. There's a booklet (all in all 48 pages) commenting on each short film including a small interpretation, an interview + biography of Svankmajer and 3 discs that provide every shortfilm by Svankmajer and every documentation about his work.

One of his best animations using clay:

Is that a 15" one? I'd really love to own one as they support such nice RGB. Can you tell me the exact name/number of the monitor? :)

Cool, did you play it? What about the picture quality, I assume it's clean and sharp or did they mess something up? And what do you think about Baby-(X-)Mode? :D

Just had the time to try it for a couple of minutes yesterday and for about half an hour today. Played it today on my CRT with smoothing turned off and it does look good. I've only the PS2 DOJ to compare though.

Gameplay-wise I'm not hardcore enough to judge it but it certainly is not perfect as has been mentioned on shmups and elsewhere. The presentation does also feel amateurish (sluggish menu control, no access to resize options etc. in pause mode) which is disappointing given the delayed release. Raiden Fighters Aces has set a high standard with regard to presentation. But overall I'm happy with the purchase. I certainly wouldn't spend the big bucks on a PCB anyway.

X-Mode has to be unlocked, I guess. I can't select it yet.

The PS2 DOJ is arcade-perfect, at least what concerns the picture quality if you play via RGB. So if it looks just like that (is there a proper RGB picture possible on X360?), it should be fine.

Don't know what you mean by "not perfect" as I almost thought BL was even better than the already brilliant regular Daioujou. If it is just the menus, well, I could live with that. If there are bugs in the game or something similar: unforgivable.

Two new Wii titles this week. Dead Rising and 007 Quantum of Solace thanks to the Home Brew channel allowing me to run imports on my JPN Wii

Dead Rising while looking less impressive than the 360 original is still very entertaining and if the box is to be believed there's 73 hours worth of game play to be had! 007 only arrived this morning from the states (only took 4 days from Amazon!) so I've yet to play it. I know it had bad frame rates at times but that doesn't bother me, I'm too much of a bond nut to pass on it. What's best of all though is that 007 doesn't get released in Japan until the 23rd March and will cost more that what it did to import the US version even after shipping

They were both brand new. Dead Rising was from a store here in Japan while 007 was from Amazon. I don't like buying used stuff from the UK or US due to the shit condition stuff is always in. I've bought used stuff 5 times from the west and been burned 5 times! Buy a used game in Japan and you're pretty much guaranteed the disc will be scratch free unless you buy it from a junk section but even then you can be lucky.

Yeah you only got a good chance buying a used game here if you go to a shop to see the condition before you buy. Some shop owners get really annoyed if you ask or want a better condition copy of the game!

That's the one big advantage you lucky guy have in Japan. My orange GameCube has been marked "Has Scratch (big) on top", price decreased for about 15$ (4500JPY->3000JPY). It's a perfectly mint GC and completely like new, even with bags and every cardboard inlays. The "dai kizu" was actually a 1,5cm scratch only visible in a certain angle under a lamp.

Is every Japanese person this fucking anal about the condition or why do they even think about mentioning it?

No, not at all. My wife doesn't look after anything and thinks I'm strange because I do. I also recently got my car back from a body shop after some prick threw a big stone at it. Needless to say I must of scared the shit out of him so much he actually took out his wallet to pay me there and then. Got 50’000 yen from of him so off to the body shop to get it repaired. Anyway, after 3 days in the body shop I get my car back only to find the fuckers had been using it! Dirty marks all over the place inside as well as no petrol in the tank. I’m currently threatening to sue them. Let's see how it goes.

Anyway, back on topic. Shops understand that a customer wants the best quality and it's the Japanese way to provide it as standard (apart from the twats in the car body shop). It's just a whole different attitude really and one of the better points of living here.
