    Just picked up a boxed PS3 40Gb for £30.

The guy said it needed a new hard drive. Opened it to find the HD tray was literally compacted with dust. Took out the drive (which oddly was a 120GB), formatted it, cleaned the machine up, reversed the fans and then popped the drive in. Quick re-install of the OS and it's as good as new :)

Now I just need to find an HDMI to DVI adapter that works as my parents TV is only 1080i and it doesn't look great. Want to get it running on my monitor.

HDMI -> DVI won't work with PS3 unless it doubles as a HDCP stripper.

Unlike the Xbox 360 (where HDCP is only enabled during protected video playback), the PS3 has it enabled all the time.

That's why people who capture on the PS3 usually stick with component, as that's not protected and as such, doesn't require a stripper.

My monitor supports HDCP. Looking at a few guides online, a simple DVI to Female HDMI plug will work?? Not sure what to do about audio though, would like to connect it to my 2.1 setup which sadly only has a 3.5mm jack.

    This is my monitor http://benq.co.uk/product/monitor/gl2450/specifications

Am I right in thinking that I can use the composite cables along side HDMI and output the audio that way? I have a RCA to female 3.5 audio which I can use.

Yep, HDMI to DVI for video and the standard RCA jacks to 3.5mm will work fine.

UPDATE: I went back to the store and in a toy bin (no idea why) I found the controller, so now I got the system, matching controller and power supply for $12. Throw in finding a copy of Super Mario All Stars for the SNES and it was a good call going there.

I just purchased a box of sealed Spyro 2 Riptos Rage discs for only $50... the guy I bought them from said he ran a gamestore in my town in 2000 and it closed, and he took home alot of the stock. He said he forgot he had these in the attic. I got a steal! What shall I do with 30 new copies?

My mate just gave me this Sony Trinitron 21" flat screen CRT. Picture quality is superb, can't photograph it properly because of flicker. So glad he called and asked cos he said it would've gone to the dump otherwise.

Now all I need is to get some RGB cables.

Collection only was the reason, I would feel pretty bad going around to the persons house and give them £1 for all that stuff and ask for my 1p change :D

I wouldn't! Picked up the odd faulty xbox for £1 locally before, as well as my previous 21" CRT. But of course I don't ask for any change lol :-D

Originally bought a PS1 Debug Unit (DTL-H1101) unit off someone on Twitter, boxed/instructions/everything for $80. Had to sell it a few years later, and got $325 for it. Then this year, I managed to pick up another one (sans box/manuals/back plate), but everything else, for $115.

    Not a bad deal, really.

I go to a local comic and anime convention when I was browsing thru the tables I saw a very wear box of a virtual boy I ask the person about the box and the woman told me it has the console with all except the tripod or stand for the console and I can have it for a $20. Well now I have a boxed vitual boy with tennis. A console I'll not play beacuse of my migraines.
