To be honest, there is little difference in graphics quality between the 360 and the PS3. The 7-core Cell vs. the 360's 3-core CPU and 48-'core' GPU balance out in terms of performance (and development timescale) when it comes to games. First party titles from both camps are excellent in terms of visual quality (as you would expect) but it means it's impossible to compare - they both have amazingly good looking games and some stinkers. Even when it comes to well-coded multi-platform titles, the differences are so minor that unless you spent your time 1 inch away from the screen you honestly wouldn't notice (note I said 'well-coded', the PS3 did have a bad run of poor multi-platform titles in the early days). If the only thing stopping you from owning both is a concern over graphics quality, you've obviously been spending too much time around fanboys, scouring over un-noticeable issues and getting in the way of your enjoyment of the game. Back on topic: Sounds like PSN has a massive security hole, and rather than quietly fixing the problem they've closed the doors - which is annoying for gamers, but if it's a serious issue there's probably little they can do. I doubt it's Anonymous though, as I haven't heard much gloating from them. Someone a few weeks ago there was 'smack talk' from hackers that they had the ability to unblacklist and blacklist consoles, including the ability to blacklist all consoles on PSN - you don't think they actually did it, did they?
As you pointed out. It can be easily bypassed. Just let it try to log in, when it fails just press X to back out of that message and it will work. You might get hit with trying to log in again but just repeat and you'll be fine. I did this yesterday just fine.
Doubtful they blacklisted everyone. The consoles would likely get to a check point then give an error message. Instead they still allow a user to try and log on.
It's now official: http://blog.us.playstation.com/2011/04/26/update-on-playstation-network-and-qriocity/ "... We have a clear path to have PlayStation Network and Qriocity systems back online, and expect to restore some services within a week. " "... Although we are still investigating the details of this incident, we believe that an unauthorized person has obtained the following information that you provided: name, address (city, state, zip), country, email address, birthdate, PlayStation Network/Qriocity password and login, and handle/PSN online ID. It is also possible that your profile data, including purchase history and billing address (city, state, zip), and your PlayStation Network/Qriocity password security answers may have been obtained. If you have authorized a sub-account for your dependent, the same data with respect to your dependent may have been obtained. While there is no evidence at this time that credit card data was taken, we cannot rule out the possibility. If you have provided your credit card data through PlayStation Network or Qriocity, out of an abundance of caution we are advising you that your credit card number (excluding security code) and expiration date may have been obtained."
It's about freakin' time we sue Sony, under the data protection act! Not that I used correct details when signing up, you can never be too careful these days!:fresh:
Oh well, at least the credit card I had on there is obsolete now, so that's totally useless to anyone.
Fuck's sake. Make damn sure your PSN password isn't used elsewhere, guys, especially not your email account.
Snap. It ran out last year so before it did I added £50 to my wallet, there's still about £20 left in there. Or was.
Dear Sony: I kindly point you in THIS direction: > http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1998/29/section/13 But in case you can't be arsed to click: "Compensation for failure to comply with certain requirements. (1)An individual who suffers damage by reason of any contravention by a data controller of any of the requirements of this Act is entitled to compensation from the data controller for that damage. (2)An individual who suffers distress by reason of any contravention by a data controller of any of the requirements of this Act is entitled to compensation from the data controller for that distress if— (a)the individual also suffers damage by reason of the contravention, or (b)the contravention relates to the processing of personal data for the special purposes. (3)In proceedings brought against a person by virtue of this section it is a defence to prove that he had taken such care as in all the circumstances was reasonably required to comply with the requirement concerned."
There's no justification for any of this. So what if Sony has pissed people in 'the scene' off, they aren't the ones being fucked over, WE are. Don't like Sony's tactics or practices? Simple, don't buy into the brand. Pig ignorant fucking nerds who think the world and his dog owe them everything. Cunts.
