I think you mean Monster Slider mate. Oh, Hissatsu! is bloody awful isn't it! I recently got it back out to video for my sites Movie Vault. I always thought it was a pretty decent platform action game but was I wrong! Yakumo
I stumbled across the original Yuukyuu Gensoukyoku a few days ago and was quite irritated that it has been rated as very very rare. http://www.satakore.com/sega-saturn-game,,T-27804G,,Yuukyuu-Gensoukyoku-JPN.html I then searched all around yahoo/ebay and wasn't able to track down just a single copy of it. Maybe this is one of the very unknown rare adventure-games nobody is talking about? ^^
Very very rare ??? You've got to be joking. That's as rare as having a crap after a curry.! Do you want one? Cheap and easy to get if you do. Yakumo
Are you sure you're not confusing it with the YG "Genteiban!"-version (which is the one you actually called "Yuukyuu Gensoukyoku 1" on SGGGdomain)? Every of the Saturn YGs is quite easy to get, even the Hozonban complete set is not really rare, but I never saw part 1 non-genteiban version for sale anywhere.
Actually I thought you meant this one that's on Yahoo - http://page8.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/h38436266 It was hard to tell from the small picture on Satakore but on closer inspection they are both different games. So yes, it is no-where near as common as the others in the series and also not as common as having a crap aftera curry  Yakumo
Rather as common as having a crap while suffering under anorexia Actually I thought just like you when I saw the entry on SK first, but then I noticed that the YG-logo was on the bottom which is unique among the SAT YG games.
So the search is on. Who can find a copy of this game first I doubt it will turn up soon, that's for sure  Yakumo
Monster Slider I did not enjoy so much. Nice gimmick, subpar execution IMO. You couldn't lose. Even when I tried to lose on purpose, I would somehow pull 5, 6 chain combos out of my ass. You know that isn't good when that happens in a puzzle game, lol. No, I meant Waku Waku Monster. You haven't heard of it? If so, consider myself genuinely surprised! It's an obscure 1998 Altron puzzler (they also made ROX for Saturn, but that one sucks balls) WWM is pretty solid. My ex loved it and I couldn't pry her away from it back in 2004. cute little game, you can even select from 15 monsters As for Hissatsu!, no I still like it myself, but I definitely came back down to earth with it in recent times. The gameplay was certainly flawed, but I enjoyed it in that guilty pleasure sort manner EDIT: Yakumo, just checked your site for a WWM entry. Wow, I'm surprised you do not have one. Did I just suggest a SATURN game YOU have never been aware of, before? If so, I'm stocking up on tin foil hats and twinkies. You definitely oughta track down a copy. Well worth the $12 I spent back in 2004. It did take me about a year or so before my friend found me a copy, though. It's pretty unique as far as Saturn puzzlers go. You use a caretaker up top to drop blocks one at a time. Your monster does action in the middle like Puzzle Fighter IIRC. Good game!
Nope, I had never heard of this game before however I do know about ROX6. I'll have to track down a copy of WWM! Thanks for the recommendation  yakumo EDIT: Just got one for 200 yen from yahoo auctions. Only two up. the other is 1400 yen. Sadly neither have the spine card but for 200 yen you can't go wrong really. This is the one I got - http://page5.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/e74793850?
^ Sweet! 200 yen is top-notch dough for WWM. I guess it's not that rare after all =p Look forward to seeing an entry on your site. I'll probably put my old writeup of it on RVGFANATIC some time this summer.
Me too. Baked Beans in the UK are no where as sweet as American style beans. To me they are disgusting, far far too sweet. I don't know why America has to load everything with either sugar, salt or vinegar. Most things here are very heavily seasoned. Heinz Baked Beans are what I am used to, but they cost around $4 a can here. No way am I paying that. Very occassionally I do, and it's funny how Baked Beans on toast suddenly becomes a treat  It was a bargain basement student meal to me once.
I don't currently own a Taromaru, but have played it many times. One of the few Saturn games I would probably go out of my way to buy. I missed grabbing the MSG Side Story The Blue Destiny bs a few years ago. :crying: Loved this series, on my top SS games list. ^_^_^
Indeed. Taromaru is a far better game than a lot of people (who can't afford it or are pissed they spent so much) give it credit for. Once you get past the fact that it isn't Shinobi, the genius of it shines bright.
Yes, Taromaru is a fantastic work of art that shows just how 3D mixed with 2D should be! Very hard but if you learn the game you'll grow to love it and who would of though that Time Warner could have made this when every other one of their games is a sack of crap. Yakumo
Feel the love. Few people look past the price tag. Lovely game, quite a few wtf moments on a first run through.
I had not have the time to play it intensively yet, but still I don't miss any of my 28500yen I spent on it! It's just one brilliant game with absolutely astonishing graphics and sound to create probably the most intense atmosphere to be seen in a Saturn action game. I think during the next holidays I'll try to get really in it. I still can't understand people who bash it only b/c of its price although its just that they prefer to buy 4 PS3-games instead. I think its just like i.e. Sapphire one of the big-wallet games that are worth its price or at least more worth it than other expensive games.
I enjoyed my time with Taromaru. Bought a CIB copy (well, missing front and back manual covers, though, and sticker permanently stuck on CD) for only $80 shipped! 2-28-03, played the shit outta it for several years before finally parting with it in September 2006 for $140 that $90 of which went to fund SFC cart only Rendering Ranger 2. In essence, it was like somebody paid me $50 to borrow and play the crap outta Taromaru for 3 and a half years Good game, unreal visuals containing spooks and creeps, but I don't regret selling it one bit. Must have beaten the game 25, 30 times, so I pretty much maxed out my time with it.
I actually played through ole' Taromaru tonight in celebration of the Saturn's 13th birthday (and actually thought of this thread because of it). I really don't know how many times I've played through it though. Probably more than PDSaga (which currently stands at 68) but not as much as Blast Wind (in the hundreds, at least). I never get tired of it though. So many great moments. So many great boss fights that designed just as well (if not somewhat better) than even Treasure's best offerings. I really can't think of any complaints. Well... I take that back, I can think of two (which aren't very valid): 1. Getting your score to 999 does absolutely nothing. I did this one day, and nothing happen. It just maxes out at 999. So whats the point of the enemy kill counter!? It doesn't even save scores. 2. Beating the game in Rank Mode (1 life) or on the highest difficulty do nothing. I don't know, for some reason I would've liked it if accomplishing either of those feats had unlocked something cool. But I've done both (even 1LC'd Hard Mode :110: ) and... nothing. Bah!!! But regardless, I still see Taromaru as one of the Saturn's best games. Shame Time Warner Interactive's Japanese gaming division went out of business shortly thereafter, those guys were showing a lot of promise (well, OK, Tama isn't anything to write home about). I still remember freaking out when I discovered that if you shot all the flames around those spinning-flame-wheels before you shot the center, and then shot the center, it caused a 1UP to drop. Good stuff! Though I think my all time favorite "rare" Saturn game is Blast Wind (well, its rare to us non-Yahoo Japan using/living in Japan folks). I swear to God I can play through that game over... and over... and over... for hours, and not get tired of it. Soundtrack is second to none and the boss fights in it are just exquisite. And there's so many neat easter eggs for scoring in it its just nuts. Ah the Sega Saturn. So help me God no system can even begin to compare to its greatness. ray:
^ I enjoyed Blast Wind, though certainly not to the great degree you do. I love that voiceover in the last level, how's it go -- "GORN FOREVER!!" ? Sounds like, well, you know. Good game. I remember when used copies were going for roughly $30 in 2002. Then remarkably they started going $80+ one day circa 2003. Well, it came a lot sooner than I expected. For anyone curious, I do now have a Waku Waku Monster review up on my website (see my sig below). Yakumo, you may get a kick out of the introduction in my review... ;-) Look forward to seeing a WWM entry up on segagagadomain whenever you get around to it. Fun little charming puzzler.
