WHAT??? The Halcyon isn't a system? The RDI Halcyon was a home system that used technology FROM the arcades (namely Dragon's Lair) for it's medium, it wasn't an arcade machine like the Sega Naomi or the NG MVS. The 64GS isn't nearly top 5 rare...I'll cave to the Zemmix over the Adventurevision though, and admit i forgot the damn Navi since I usually just think of unique consoles and saturns arent rare (talk about stating the obvious).

The company that sold the A'Can for two bucks was called All Electronics. They do not have stock. The guy I know who bought them has thus far evaded my questions about leftover units; he bought them for parts and since people he contacted who owned games had zero interest in sharing, he's probably gutted them as planned.

The Halcyon WAS a system, but shockingly few were sold. It used the same technology as the LD games in the arcade (that is, a LaserDisc player and a rudimentary computer) but it most certainly was a consumer-level game system.

Dont think that's rare at all... a store in Amsterdam (which is known to be the most expensive gamestore in the country) sells them for 18e or 24e, and I bought one for Tach once for 10e including one game :smt043

I think Can Dude's list is pretty much dead on...

I really don't know about the CPS Changer though. If NFG says it's pretty common in Japan, I'll have to take his word for it, considering how much gaming stuff he deals with...and he is in Japan...

Now, I don't think the Zemmix or the Commodore 64 based consoles can be that rare, as they are based off of really really popular lines of computers.

I'm sure A'Can funtech should be on there, considering so few have made it out of their home country...and there is so little information about it...AND so few people have heard of it...

I also cosider Adventurevision to be in the top 5. They just never come up.

I don't know about Halcyon, but I don't know any place selling stacks of em...and I've never seen one...

And I don't know about a Bandai console being uncommon, I just imagine them being sucky...but if you say so.

    Are we missing anything?

What about the Vistar? Has anyone even seen one besides the one I have? There's scans of a brochure floating around, but I've never seen another one of those, and I know of at least six more A'Cans than that. =)

And the Samsung Saturn - there's only three of those confirmed, one in some collector's hands in the States, and two in mine - are there more?

I'm starting to think the whole 'what's rarest' exercise is pointless since we don't have hard numbers for any consoles' production run. For all we know the A'Can was free with a box of cereal in Taiwan and there's fifty thousand Vistars in a warehouse in Seoul. We're gonna have to more narrowly define the standards for inclusion on the list if there's to be any sort of resolution. The way it's going now the standard is "I haven't seen one before so it must be rare" and that's not gonna get us anywhere. If you lived in an icecube in Bumfuck Alaska you'd think a NES was rare.

I don't think our system is that bad. I think we're sticking to unique systems...which would knock out things like your Vistar, being a PC Engine, and Hi Saturn Navi. Though they are rare, their parent consoles are fairly common.

And you are right about the A'Can. The only way we are going to figure that one out is either to meet someone from Taiwan who is into video games, or have somebody go there. Though they may be rare outside Taiwan, they could be as common as dirt there...its unlikely in my mind...but who knows. Kinda like how a Marty is an absolute rarity in the US, but they can be found with ease in Japan.

But, with all honesty, I'm torn on the A'Can funtech. I would think that there would be more information out there, but then again, I can't think of any other unique consoles that come from places other than Europe, the US, or Japan to compare it to, information wise.

So...uh...does anybody know anybody in Taiwan...?

Sorry about all the confusion guys, but it was really late when i posted my last post. The Adventurevision is another rare system, i was thinking of a different "vision" console :smt033 , and i was a little confused about the Halcyon, thout it was used in the arcade. As for the 64GS not being rare, it is. It may have been based on a popular computer, but i don't think the system itself was too popular, how many of you have actually seen one? Another rare system that no one has mentioned is the Gamate, i think we should extend our list to the top 10!

  11. What about...

    Master system 3 compact
    Electrolab Supervision
    Coleco Gemini
    Creativision

Master System III was a prototype, so it does not count. The Coleco Gemini is not even close to rare. The Supervision is uncommon, but not rare. And the Creativision, like the Supervision, is hard to find, but it is not very rare.

Someone forgot to tell Tectoy then:

    http://asp.tectoy.com.br/videogame/master/index.asp

And this is not a unlicensed clone. TecToy is SEGA's arm here in Brazil.

Didn't even konw it exsisted. So the Master System III exsists in Brazil. It looks like a Masters System II, only differet colors. I doubt it is in the top five though.

Gamates aren't that rare. You can find them on Ebay all the time, usually sold from Germany or eastern Europe.

So, rare hand helds.... There is a GameMaster clone called "Gametronic" that was only sold in France, looks the same except it's purple.

The Epoch game pocket computer, how rare is that? Can any of you Japan people get your hands on one?

The Master System girl is supposed to be pretty rare also. Never seen one of those up for auction.

Also, there was a Japanese version of the Creatavision called "Funvision" anyone have one? Pics?

I have 2 Commodore 64 GS systems, no I will not sell one, and they were not hard to come by...If you do a search for systems you can find plenty of info on it...the zemmix is definitely more elusive in terms of information...

Ok, so the 64GS is officially off the list. That leaves us with the Super A'Can, HiSaturn Navi, Capcom Changer, Daewoo Zemmix, RDI Halcyon, Bandai TV Jack-8000, and the Adventurevision (in no paticular order). We still need three more. Maybe the Casio My Seal Computer SV-1000, aka the Loopy. It seems pretty rare to me. Feel free to make suggestions. :smt023
