I like the dock and arcade stick though!

Obviously not paying $200, but I think it looks awesome.

$200... I'd rather put that towards the home system...

Yes, the dock and arcade stick are cool, but for that price you could get a real AES.

For 200$ I'd get an AES...

I assume additional games will be a hell of a lot cheaper than AES games though...

Yeah, but if you wanna play emulated games, there are much better choices than a $200 handheld that only plays one system.

Oh course, I just mean as a legit product saying you will buy a AES because its cheaper or the same price is kinda pointless - the games would cost more, so this is cheaper by a large margin.

If you dont care about AES collecting - then emulation is cheaper and effectively the same as this. But this is a cheaper way to do it legit if you care about such things.

Remember when the PSP launched, people bitched for 7-8 years to get dual analog sticks before they appeared on the Vita.

Launching this with just the one stick is not that strange though as it *probably* wont be running 3D games, which begs the question - what is the point? What will it compete with?

I can buy the Neo Geo games from the PSN store anyway - in fact I already own Metal Slug and I play it whenever I travel for some considerable distance and given as I cannot find my charger at present, I can rebuy and play Metal Slug and other games as Apps for my phone anyway.

Well I am more than happy with this announcement and will be putting my money were my mouth is in December. I used to own an AES, bought it recently then sold it recently, and they are great fun but finding games that don't cost ridiculous amounts is the real problem as mentioned earlier. This is a great way to play those games (and more hopefully via the SD slot) of course you could emulate if you already own a PSP or a Dingoo or whatever but I don't so will go with this when its finally released.

    Cool!

People bitched for 7-8 years about dual analog and yet the dedicated handhelds with dual analog are still in minority nowadays.

The product is targeted to Neo Geo aficionados that want to play emulated NG games on the go or at home (look at the arcade joystick replica) without shelling a fortune for original carts.
Quality of the build (digital stick on the handheld, arcade stick etc.) and emulation is what bugs me.

Wonder how the emulation would be on this...

At $200 it would be worth it if it were an actual new console for SNK that's going to get new games

    But as it is, nope.

PS: hexigon I see you change your avatar again, one with even more bounciness this time...

Like Shadowlayer said, can only see this doing well if SNK announced some new games exclusively for it. The appeal of other clone systems is that they're usually cheaper than buying the actual system. At this price, you could probably get an AES and a multicart. Not even worth it for the portability, since I'm pretty sure the PSP can emulate Neo Geo well.

According to the Press Release it has composite A/V and HDMI output. One can only hope for some sort of HDMI scanline option.

I'm really quite looking forward to this. Pity about the stick though, I really hate original AES controllers. At least on the 'kidney stick' the buttons are at a useable angle.

Made me think of this piece of nostalgic hardware...
    http://apcmag.com/nostalgia-rebooted-commodore-64-goes-on-sale-again.htm

Funny thing is, my ex bought a Commodore DVD player about 6 years back, so I knew that they were rebooting the brand name...
...but I actually only heard of this revamped version a couple of weeks ago.

I think this kind of effort isn't particularly for die-hard fans, but more for these so-called hipsters...
    Cheap-o-win!

    Just my two cents.

The price for this is pretty laffo, for $1295 you get a computer with some crappy netbook CPU. For that price you could get a much more powerful laptop, even more so if you got a desktop.

Some people on other boards were saying that NEO GEO Station hasn't been updated in months on the PSN, and it might be cause of NEO GEO X GOLD. If the NEO GEO handheld has internal memory, upgradeable software, and the handheld can connect with Wifi, SNK Playmore could make their own store for the device, and release their title vault for sale. They could even make new games and release them digitally worldwide without paying money to PSN. I would love for all of this to happen.

And if it does happen..Can you imagine if other companies took the same approach? Capcom could make a CP console. Sega could do the same as well with there arcade titles.
