A Child Porn console? I bet Reddit users would love that.
But seriously, a Sega console would be a good idea, but it's probably never gonna happen, exactly because it's a good idea. I personally wouldn't give a shit since I already have fine versions of most of them on Saturn, and I doubt they'd release stuff like Death Adder's Revenge or OutRunners that never got a (proper) port.

Not the reference I was expecting to hear. I am talking about the arcade board developed by Capcom, but you already know that.

Of course, although I didn't know the official name was CP System and not just CPS. Guess you really do learn something new everyday.

I'm torn on this one as it looks very cool with the original neo geo colors and the charger looking just like an AES but all of the games have been available for years in rom form (I understand not legal). Also PSP emulation of all these games are perfect. I think the price point is just to give it an expensive feel like the original Neo Geo. Except that original system was very state of the art at the time.

If this press release said "more games to come via download" I'd be more sold on it. No Shock Troopers 2 also is not good!

Well actually if you like all 20-games you 'only' pay like $100,- for the machine and $100,- for the games. So it isnt such a bad deal, at least if the games are proper emulated once's.

Seeing exclusive titles from SNK (and maybe other developers) on this thing would be really awesome! I wonder if NG:DEV.TEAM titles like gunlord and fast striker will be released on it...

No, $100 for those games is a bad deal. It's the exact same selection as the SNK collection for PS2, which you could probably get for like $10.
edit: Actually it isn't, but close enough, and the PS2 collection has Shock Troopers, which is worth at least 3 or 4 of the worse games in this collection.

I actually want get it I digg the design, if it's like licensed gen clones that have sd slots probably use your own roms. I'd say emulation will be fantastic considering this a actual snk product instead of a licensed clone/emu. Maybe Nintendo should give up on vc and consider this route.

I sure wish they'd give up on trying to sell single ROMs for like $10 each. For a laugh, go to gog.com and see what games are $10.

But a PS2 you cant put in your pocket, pricewise I compaired it to the individual PSN 'neo geo station' re-releases, which cost about $5,- a pop.. so 20 games x $5,- = $100,- value. So if you really like all 20 of them, it isnt such an bad deal.

$5 for one ROM is also a rip-off, although even that's far less ridiculous than Nintendo's 900 points for one measly Neo Geo game.

It does still genuinely surprise me that there isn't more enthusiasm for this machine. I mentioned as much in a post in another topic of the NEOGEO X.

I think it looks like a great machine that has potential, probably not for new games lets not kid ourselves, but to be fun, portable and later play on the TV at home. Bonus!

It seems that people always talk on about how 'this machine and that game' etc should be portable and when finally someone does something new everyone queues up to slag it off then add the obligatory "but if (insert brand/console here) did one I would buy that in a heartbeat"

Sure its priced high but looking at the picture it looks like some effort and thought has gone into it so I am willing to spend some cash. People say well "might as well emulate it on the PSP" thats fine the emulator is great and runs full speed, as far as I can remember as I used to use it, BUT I will not need to hack this machine to play 20 good NeoGeo games off the bat. I can turn it on and play them straight away no 'custom firmware' no 'hacking no 'bricking' I like the idea of buying some games and if they are 5 quid a pop yeah so be it. I used to own an AES for about 2 months until i realised I was going to get wallet raped every time I wanted to play a new game so I sold it to buy one of these bad boys (a bit premature as it turns out but hey)

I could get a dingoo and run emulators but its much the same as the PSP for me I have to mess about with a system and a file structure and naming conventions etc I run a MAC so using anything like a dingoo has always been problematic so wouldn't want to go down that route. The dingoo does however look like a good little machine.

I hope that more people get on board with this as I guess if it does do well and people buy into the concept its more likely other machines could follow imagine a portable dreamcast with games running off SDHC cards "now I would buy that in a heartbeat"

Not a rant thats aimed at anyone but it all seems pretty negative really. I think this is a great way into NeoGeo games for people who may not have played them before and hell if its rubbish just sell it and buy a dingoo they look pretty similar anyway!

    Cheerios!

I'd defintely buy it if there was a new kickass exclusive game in the vein of the neogeo greatness.

It doesn't surprise me at all, this is basically a $200 version of those cheapo emulation handhelds Blaze has been releasing forever. There are just so many ways to play emulated Neo Geo games - and all of those also emulate other systems - it's hard to get excited about that.

I agree they did put a bit of effort into it and it really is a nice package, the neo geo sick is a great touch. That's why I would consider getting it, a poor man's neo geo if you will as far as the games go.It's a nicer design in some ways than the supa boy and at least it offers hdmi out for a decent picture unlike the supa's composite only (guess it is a bit much to add svideo to a portable). I am curious what type of rom structure they will use considering how neo geo games are usually dumped.

It does look nice, and if it was...about $100 instead of $200 it'd be something to consider. I just love the comments on Kotaku: "You're already playing them on your Android phone? But that's ILLEEGALLLL!"

    $200?! No thanks.

I'll wait for the price cut.

Well, if you wanna play Neo Geo games, then you gotta spend money, but if you just wanna play emulated games then there are a million other choices, including the computer you probably own.

Are you guys sure the "NEO GEO X STATION" is nothing more than a dock? Maybe it actually has some real hardware inside it. It would be cool if it was real NEO GEO hardware. all the chips that were expensive back in the 90s are probably dirt cheap by now.
