Uh, in what universe is there a "casual group" that'd pay $200 for a handheld that emulates a relatively obscure system and also somehow doesn't know about ROMs and emulators? There's no way those Venn diagrams will overlap.

Well, that's why I said to get an iControlpad...

I'd say this is more for people who always wanted a Neo Geo but could never afford one

I'd rather put that $200 towards a real deal system. Rather than some emulated, sd looking cart junk :p
Really though, it be worth while in the long run - reselling this won't be easy, compared to reselling a AES or MVS board.

Really the main thing keeping me from buying this, is the fact that I'm on a Saturn Collecting spree, and there are already a ton of SNK/Neo Geo ports on the Saturn that will blow away anything on this thing (World Heroes Perfect for one)

If you could add games through SD, not just via the game cards, I'd be interested in getting one and an extra stick. 200 dollars is really not that much.

Call me a sucker, but I think it does look very cool.

Of course, we should wait to see the quality of it, but I've definitely seen worse ways to spend 200 dollars down here. Quite impossible to get an AES for that in Mexico, anyhow.

So perhaps somewhat knowledgeable consumers in third-world countries might find this very appealing.

Isn't KOF as big as Mario in Latin American Countries?

I see this thing clearly targeted to the JPN market and nothing else, they are playing the nostalgia card about better times when Japan was at the top of both gaming and consumer electronics.

Compare that to today when sony is a joke and the latest RE game its a disgrace, this handheld thing is no different from that retro fad from car companies in the early 00s trying to resuscitate old classic car styles

So yeah, this NG thing is like a pt cruiser.

Who knows, this might be such a huge flop that it only sells in short numbers, gets discontinued early and becomes one of the rarest and most valuable handhelds on the market. You never know.

With the whole games on a card thing it's a bit of a turn off now. Snk is the only company I know of that keeps releasing compilations and reiterations of its older hardware. Last big new thing they did was the last kof but even that was almost a disaster for them financially. At this rate I think sega would have better success re-releasing saturn and dreamcast than snk with this neo geo scene.

They are missing a HUGE opportunity, SNK could ride the indie games gravytrain and make a ton of money now that retrogaming is almost mainstream

Instead they release this overpriced crap

Looks alright. The docking station seemed kind of cheap to me in that you open it up and put the handheld inside. I really think they should have made that an actual AES for the docking station with old cart compatibility.

If they are standard USB I guess they could even work on the PS3. Retail price of the joystick is $49.99.

Yeah, that's not a bad price for the stick. I might get one.

I think it looks like a quality product. Funny that on the UK boards I visit the members are all over this with nothing bad to say. I guess it's all down to price and since the US normally get things cheap this system is looking not so good. Personally I would buy one if they release it in Japan. I'm not importing though. The price would rocket.
