Not everyone punches through the stickers. You can get a sharp blade and lift the sticker up carefully and access the screws that way.
It's not been opened, the stickers are still intact and I'm doubting the original owner knew enough about them to use a sharp blade to remove the stickers..I'll just open it and sand it down, I can get an original black one for a tenner if I break it so it's not too bad
You won't break the system opening it. The system is modular, so you'll be fine sanding the sides. Underneath will require complete disassembly.
That's the only problem, the bottom has some big rust stains (Sort of looks like something was spilled under it) so I wanted to sand that off too..
You'll just have to be careful lifting it away from the housing, It's not difficult just don't rip it out, otherwise it will buckle.
Okay thanks again . I'll be picking some sand paper up this weekend and some oil too (any specific type I need) my disc drive seems to have fixed itself . Maybe it just hasn't been used for a while
You can use any oil, or WD-40 and it will do the job. Just don't use cooking oil, we are not making fries yet DVD-ROM Drive will most likely stick again. I'd open it up and brush all the dust out of it, and re-grease the tray and rails just so you don't have to it later on. Better to fix everything at once.
Okie Dokie and thanks for that! don't want to go cooking food in it do I ha. Will give it a go when I'm next home and have the things to do it as I say . Will also sort the disc drive out too as ya suggested
I know! Would have been good to get a mint condition one to begin with but this is beginning to be a little project for me which I will enjoy anyway so it's fine . Ordered a brand new crystal controller the other day too so I will have a matching controller for the Xbox then . And thank you very much! I'll just message you if I need any help then, Thanks again for the help so far! Looking forward to actually soft modding my Xbox and putting a larger HD in it!
I managed to pick up a copy of splinter cell anyway to help me softmod my console when I get round to it..looking at getting a memory card now too because I hear you need one of those too..
Well I've found an official Xbox memory card for £4 so I'll just buy that and I live in Preston, why do you ask?
Sorry, not with it atm..just realised that you posted a tutorial and a link to a USB cable on page 2 as you stated. It probably would be easier for me to use that cable wouldn't it as I haven't a clue how I'd get the save files onto an official Xbox memory card..other than getting hold of the save files etc, the steps seem fairly straight forward..I just want to get it done now! Ha
Yeah you'd either need to buy a memory card with the saved files already on, or just go for the USB adapter and copy them across once downloaded. Was asking cos if you were local I'd have given you a hand as I already have all the stuff, but that's not an option lol.
Awwwww that's a shame! That would have been ideal too! And would have been good to have help off someone who has done this before..oh well, you've been really helpful on here so far . Okay, well I think it would be better for me to buy the adapter you linked me too as ill have a hard time getting the saves onto an official card. Speaking of which..do you know where I can download the delux soft mod tools I need? I tried to find them online but its all on torrent sites and none of them are downloading due to lack of seeders will only specific USB drives work with that adapter you linked me too? The seller states so and I don't want to have to buy a special pen drive too as I have like 5 of them lying around..
Here you go matey - http://www.aid.xbox-hq.com/index.php?title=Softmod_Installer_Deluxe theisozone.com is also a good place for various xbox tools and other goodies... On that ebay link it says "this listing includes compatible memory stick so you can ignore this warning!" So I assume it comes with a USB drive, maybe send a message to the seller just to confirm before purchasing.
Thank you so much for your help!! . I've emailed the seller and will download those files now!! . Can't wait to get started on it now!!
It's a lot of fun when you do it for the first time. I recommend giving the manual a good read so you know what you're doing when the time comes. And of course there's plenty of guys here who can help should you have any further questions
It sounds like it will be interesting enough! I've modded a PSP before and that was quite fun to do so thinking this will be too..The seller stated that it doesn't include one anyway but he can include a 128mb for £3 :-/ Have you no idea if any other USB drive can be used? If not then I guess I'll have to pay the extra just to make sure..
