Told you the replacement caps would be thicker Will be good to re-sale purposes though, since from the top they look great. If they perform well, then job done. I need to grab a few of these though. Many of my controllers needs the caps replaced. Most of my controllers now are mint though. By the way RJ here's all the controllers released here:
I had no idea there were that many! Let alone that zany looking one! By the way, cool intro! I need to find an intro! Where do you purchase an intro these days? :topsy_turvy:
There's like 1 missing in that video which I think I mentioned. Just missed the "Limited Edition" lacking jewel crystal controller. Oh, haha nah my buddy made that intro he's pretty good at video editing.
Actually one of the controller s's i have has the see through cable (with black jewel). For a bit of jolly interesting where is this one from? Ah never mind, this one says "made in malaysia". The others say "made in china".
This tutorial helped me fix the stuck drive on one of my Xboxes! So thanks very much for putting it up . Now to fix the second one
Not sure matey, don't think so looks pretty bloody good if it is. Here are some pics back of, with label. Pic of back of board. Made in China (top), made in Malaysia (not the top). There are parts differences (which are answered in the next pic) but also the connector for the cable is around the other way compared to the other one (ie the cores of the cable come out the other side in the chinese made controllers) Made in China=Rev A, Made in Malaysia=Rev C In other news I hit a snag (damn it!) I was inspecting the rubber contacts for tears and this one was f*#ked Not sure if I should try and chase up a replacement one or not as one of the control pads when I initially tested it had an issue with the direction pad or one of the thumbsticks as the player (tested the control pads with Halo) kept turning around in circles lol! It could of been due to a faulty cable, but how these control pads work (ie it isn't "dumb" like an old Sega pad, it has "smarts" that make it work), I doubt it. Could keep the rest of it for spares I suppose.
Take a photo of the front as well. Usually bootlegs have black cabling and no breakaway cable. There was very, very good ones during it's years so this could be it. @Sheepy - Glad I could help you bro
Just that label looks so weird. The front of the controller and the buttons will be a clear give away though.
Buttons and case are the same (they all took a bath last night), the sticker is identical except for location and the "made in china" controllers have a smaller sticker to the side of the main sticker. Edit Watched part of your video and yes xbox duke control pads were sold seperately as i bought one soon after i bought my original xbox.
Double post Here are some pics of that "Made in Malaysia" Controller. Board with full cable shot. The cable is pretty much identical to the Duke. Front/rear case, now I don't know which front case is which as they are all identical Now you mentioned the buttons. so I took all 3 of 1 type of button ("X") the black button and the start/back combo. Maybe this controller is from another region, but I am sure it is a genuine item. Also the original XBOX I got (with Duke controllers) came with Halo as a pack in game. I can't remember what the pack was called but I do know they released it when the XBOX had it's first big price drop soon after release. From memory, the box was the standard box with a "wrap around" card showing the Halo game. I do recall getting Halo (of course), I also purchased Jedi Starfighter (which I traded in) and the extra control pad. There may have been a 3rd game but I can't recall. The day I got it was near to my birthday, but I was working on the Saturday and that was the day that the big price drop started (it was something like $500 down to $300). A mate and his missus went down to the local K-mart before opening time and there was a sizeable crowd, anyway they grabbed it for me and I went over straight after work and played it there until the wee hours of the night. Yup cool story bro....
Ah then it's a genuine controller, those buttons look good. There was this tall box that was released here, it came with a game, controller, and DVD Kit right now I can't remember then name.
Yes! That sound's like it, as I also got the DVD remote. I wish I kept the box, I still have the original manual, additional controller manual, DVD remote manual (I think). Later on I got a memory card manual (with receipt, cost me $50) and the safety power cord manual. I am just wondering if it would be worth my while to buy a cheap control pad for the contact pad that is busted in mine, maybe I should repair the cable and see if that fixes the "Halo in circles" problem. edit here is another XBOX S with the clear cable (no break away) http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Original...g_Replacement_Parts_Tools&hash=item3f25261a88
Think it was called something along the lines of XBOX Hot Pack, I honestly can't remember right now. I'm not sure if the buttons are causing your Halo problems sounds like the sticks, if you turn the sticks 1080 degrees does the problem stop?
Shoot, I can't remeber now as it was a while ago i got these. I tested them made a note (faulty cable, dodgy d pad etc) & then put them away for around 6 months before i got to them.
