I have sent him an e-mail. Along with a couple of others. The truth is the guy seems to of dissapeared off the net. No usenet postings since May and also website is dead and so on. We do have phone number for him however i dont feel confortable with calling him. However with his nature of collecting and going to shows it might be an interesting conversation someone might have with him if aproached in the correct way. However i dont recomend this.
The system and Dan caught on tape! Yes, that's right. I have found Dan Kramer and the snes attachment both on video. Granted its only for a few seconds and doesn't offer much more insite, but its an interesting clip nonetheless. You can find it here: http://www.retrogamingradio.com/cge/2002/media.php#videos thanks to retrogamingradio (didn't ask for permission but am not direct linking) and courtesy of Richard Ragon of HanaHo Games, Inc. It does, however, show a slightly closer view of the back, which I can't see any ports on (does that mean all its power and stuff comes from the snes?). The big end is the side with the disk drive, and it looks like that end actually hangs off the back of the snes, so would you (in this early version) actually put discs in through the back, when plugged into a snes? Also no one has brought up the round thing underneath the hanging off end. Is this solely there so that it doesn't tip over? Most notably, however, is that there is indeed ANOTHER guy who is in the booth with Dan. Could he be the owner? Anways, you can see them from around seconds 34-41 of the first minute of the clip, which is a .mov file and around 15 megabytes. Thoughts?
Dan is indeed a big hope for getting the real story By the way, the ports would appear to be on the side (if that's them... only a dev machine would need them, bar power maybe). Yes the drive is at the back. That's just a tube propping it up. It isn't on the machine. I'd imagine the machine was to be used on a Super Famicom or a SF Box-II, not a US SNES.
I finally did see it after a couple of carefull looks. still its too small in the video to really see what it fully looks like,
Found him! Well guys. I have found Dan. He has emailed me, and I have emailed him back inviting him to the board, so hopefully we will see him here in not too long and perhaps we will get some questions answered. In preparation, I say welcome to the board Dan.
that's awesome! i think everyone will agree with me , he's welcome to the assembler's boards anytime! when will he come?
hmm... (in response to part of a new email by him) So that item and all the stuff on that side of your booth isn't yours Dan? I'm sure that you've seen the pictures in this thread as to which we are referring to by now. In a video clip a few posts up there was someone else behind the tables with you. Was he that whole side his or something. Do you remember his name?
Sorry... Well, Dan has checked out the posts a little, and so on (though it doesn't look like he will post here, but he's welcome to at any point). The main conclusion though, is that the item ISN'T his, though to quote him it "looks vaguely familiar, like I saw it somewhere before." This perhaps points back to my earlier suggestion that maybe it belongs to the other guy in that video clip? Either way, he suggests consulting CGE about their 2002 exhibitor layout. So thanks Dan for the help, and the saga continues, lol. EDIT: I just have a conversation with game-rave.com's Jason Dvorak. Here is the whole conversation in plain text for anyone interested. http://www.geocities.com/binto1985/convesation.txt
Well, I e-mailed him before you did, and I know the address I used was valid, but I didn't get a response. So from that and the responses you've posted, I guess he's not that bothered about it.
no he hasnt sent me a reply either and i know someone who has contact with dan sent him an e-mail for me. . .
