Ok I got a price for the SNES style Screw sockets, they will be $25 each with same shipping price as the other one and same discount if buying more than 3. PMing me with a larger order and we can negotiate prices for people looking to buy bulk.

I got the nes-101 multi panels today, haven't done much other that look and feel, but they do feel quite strong and they are quite smooth yet with a slight texture. The color is too white, but we already knew that was an issue.
The other issues i've found already are with the pcb, if it were made with a beveled edge it might ease cord insertion, i'd prefer gold finish, and if the annular rings were bigger it might help soldering wires and headers to them.
Will do some video review and instal later.

Also, i'd prefer a dark color for the panel mount pieces, the snes connector is a dark grey almost black and that looks pretty good on the back bottom shell of a nes-001.

@AlmostOriginal: Helder is talking about the "Panel Mount" version, the picture that you are referencing.

I take everyone who are interest in this version will be using this for the NES frontloader. Just as a head up, the socket will be longer than the stock SNES version. This is the shortest we can build this. The stock was molded entirely in one piece. We had to accommodate a single screw so naturally ours will take more room. There are probably only two good locations to mount this on the lower casing of the frontloader. There's not a whole lot of room in the back. The two marked regions are the roomiest.

Color is going to cost alot of work and time and there is a guide in the link above. As for the PCB suggestions I could update the design to have those features. The bevel you're referring to are the corners near the edge connectors where you insert the cable into?

I'd much rather buy one made in black that to dye them, but will make do if it's really that much more expensive.
Yes the edge that the cord hits should be beveled. I think some pcb fabs will do what they call gold fingers and if i'm not mistaken that includes a beveled edge, can anyone confirm?

how much more does grey filament cost? i also would have preferred that they come in grey.

if you update the pcb to have the round corners - will i be able to get one seperately?

This uses SLS printing technology. The raw material comes in white powder form. It's not like Makerbot or Reprap which use FDM tech. With SLS, you don't get that harsh striated look.

Rounded edge is something I will have to ask the fab house if they do and how much extra it will cost, or use a dremel with sand stone to kill the edge. I have made a miter edge to the square corners but I doubt that is what you guys wanted and also increased hole size in the next batch of PCBs. Don't expect them here for another 3 weeks or so.

I spent most of my Saturday experimenting with fabric dye. Long story short, more research is needed. I end up just using automotive vinyl spray dye that I had lying around in my garage, it was so much easier to use and look quite nice.

I just got my back panel yesterday and installed it today. Took some pictures for those who might be interested.

I was originally going to use header pins on the NESRGB connections, but since the multi out has header pins, I don't mind the connections on the NESRGB side being hardwired. I also kept the L and R audio wires separate (connecting them both to the audio out on the NESRGB), instead of running one to the socket and shorting the pins together, in case one day I decide to do a "stereo" mod.

Cut up an IDE cable socket to connect to the header

Just for reference, here is what it looked like before with the SNES socket, and the nice looking hole I cut:

I'd say the new back panel is an improvement

Not very long at all. I would say maybe an hour, maybe a little more. I wasn't really keeping track.

There really wasn't much to it, since everything is designed to work with the top-loader. Other than modifying the IDE socket, it was all just soldering. I like how it makes everything more easily accessible, since it can be removed without having to desolder the power connector. I might decide to dye it some day to match the shell, but I honestly don't mind the white color that much.

Great work BuffaloWing and Helder!. I actually like the color/dying process you used to darken the panel mount version, i would take it without 2nd thoughts, but i am looking forward to the panel mount version regardless :). I planning on throwing a NESRGB board in my front loader soon and like this way better than all the other connectors, it gives it that "Nintendo" feel. My NES is the 1 out of the 2 systems in my gaming rig that are in need of RGB for my framemeister (Dreamcast being the 2nd, just waiting on the Kenzei).

Good news for everyone interested in the screw panel mount. I have ordered 20 and the price is more reasonable since it's less material the cost is quite a bit less. The price is $25 per socket and if you want them dyed in that dark color it will be an extra $3 but the process is simple to do so DIYers should be able to handle it no problem, but for those who don't want to do it I will offer the service.

Do you use "automotive vinyl spray dye" like BuffaloWing?

Yes that is what I will use to dye them, like I said anyone can do this but I'm offering the service for those who can't or don't want to do it themselves.
