Well Family Guy actually did have a Homer VS Peter fight.
I have sunk hours into creating Mugen rosters and no matter how many characters I dumped into a game It never felt finished.
Funnily enough there's a PS3 Japan Only fighter that runs on a Modified Mugen engine.

I don't play Mugen anymore on the basis that, I own all the games most characters are ripped from now.

Has MUGEN's core engine changed much from what it was back in the early 00s?

It used to crash a lot, something about the gameplay always just felt choppy.

It's truly amazing to see how much was built on top of it.

The only changes that have been made to Mugen is that Mugen 1.0 has 720p support, and characters can have win quotes. That's pretty much it.

It still crashes all the time, there are some really poorly made shitty characters with no animation. Some SFIV chracters aren't even in Mugen yet, Nobody has bothered to make a Cirmson Viper. But Oni, Juri and Seth can be found.

Going to be the biggest Beta yet this weekend, Good news for you players from Japan.
Street Fighter 5's upcoming beta phase available to all PlayStation Plus members in Japan

Street Fighter 5's third and final beta test is coming up this weekend, and Capcom is letting more players try it out before the game officially releases next February.

The next beta will be open to all PlayStation Plus members in Japan. Previously, those enrolled in Japan's beta were chosen by lottery, as opposed to simply pre-ordering like other regions.

To compensate, Capcom is also giving Japanese players who managed to make it into the past beta tests four additional codes for the upcoming phase to give out to fellow PlayStation users.

Street Fighter 5's beta #3 is set to go live on December 18th and will run through the 20th.

I sure hope so! But if the past beta's are any indication it will probably be a few of the previous characters and then the ones they havnt showcased yet. Dhalsim, Zangief and F.A.N.G.. Last Beta they ended up opening all the characters the last few days. If I had to put money on it, we'll get the new fighters and a few old then they'll open up all fighters. All I know is...I can't freaking wait.

All that's left to talk about after this Beta is what features the game will have. I hope it's more robust than IV. At least give us a Survival mode or something.

I would LOVE the return of world tour mode. I have sunk hours of my life into creating the perfect broken ass Cammy. That was IV's Biggest short comings, lack of single player content. Vanilla IV had some nice single player stuff but Super and Beyond was lacking.

Should be an interesting Beta. I've been matching Maximillion's videos As he's the only person that does Fighting game videos that I can stand watching. It's been interesting following the evolution of the game over the last six months.

I guess next month we'll finally get some info about the game's other non online features. I don't play on line very often so single player is key.

Well, I'm in...sort of. Even if you've downloaded the previous update, you'll be prompted to update again. But at least there's a training mode you can do (Gouken teaching Ryu/Ken) while you wait and it tells you your download status every once in awhile.

Totally revamped main menu with new options. So I finished all that, went to casual game and..waited 5 minutes without being matched up with anyone, so I switched to Ranked Match..and been sitting here for 7 minutes without it connecting me to anyone. Unfortunately I have to go to work soon, was just hoping to catch a few matches with the 20 spare minutes I had this morning and..nope, nothing.

Trying not to spam this thread but..I'm in. Gief just became available, I'm sure GOH, can't wait..lol.

and the ability to practice until the computer finds you a match is back.

UPDATE: everyone but Fang is available! Lots of matches coming up now, PC players as well.
The one character who is amazing to watch in person is ...Dhalsim. His new character design and animations are the best of the bunch I think. In his pre-fight close-ups he even looks graphically better than anyone in my opninon. Not saying i'm going to main him but betwene his new look and his great new moves..i've done better with him than ever before and he's VERY interesting to play now.

Watching Zangief air grab Ryu mid Shoryuken made me almost want to main him...almost. I'm pretty fed up with having to fight against shoto after shoto character. Having said that the old "spam shoryuken in the middle of someones combo" does still occasionally work with Ken as I was the recipient of that. But..During the beta I saw folks playing a wide variety of characters and the "shoto train" I experienced in SFIV didn't happen. I feel like the game is much more balanced character wise so far. Only thing is getting used to the new play style and how footsies are now more important than ever. One good thing, just throwing out crap and hoping something sticks is now MUCH more punishable. Not as much safe stuff you can just throw on someone then miss or pull up short and be OK. You really have to think, be patient and make calculated risks more than ever it seems.

I wonder how much this is going to change how I use Cammy. If my wait for somebody to jump "Thrust kick" Strategy will still apply.
