I understand where you're coming from. I was surprised we had two grapplers when Ono had already stated he wanted the characters to be as varied as possible but apparently they've changed Gief more than it looks like upon first inspection. Snake eyes got his hands on the character and had a good talk about it here, he also stated that his new air grab is "Godlike".
I don't use Dhalsim myself, but his redesign is pretty sick. I'll give the new Sim a try at least, Gief........I might play as him ONLY to fulfill a trophy requirement.
After playing the Beta's, I think i'm pretty set on Karin as my first main but I fear the whole time i'll just be waiting for Juri to come out. I desperately want her to be competitive in this one, her character design is awesome and I just dig her for whatever reason. P.S. I agree, I actually Love the new Dhalsim
I never used Karin in either Capcom Fighting Jam or Alpha 3. She looks fun from the footage I've seen. Supposedly right now Cammy is upper Tier. Not that I pay attention to Tier lists but it's nice to see my usual main right up there. I wonder if Elena will pop up in round 2 DLC. Then All 3 of my SFIV Mains will have made it into V
I was never a fan of karin before but she's vastly improved in my book now. The tiers are funny, i've seen karin as the #1 player and then also in the very bottom. I think Elena would be a really good choice. She would be right in line with Ono's desire to keep the players as varied yet balanced as possible. I don't need 20 shoto characters. Having said that..wouldn't an "Evil Dan" be amazing? Common Capcom, let Dan give in to the "Dark Saikyo'!!!!!...lol. I LOVE Dan. He's the "white men can't jump" of fighting games. If you lose with him..so what? It's Dan, he's supposed to suck. If you win with him...it's a huge rush that you beat someone with a crappy player and (if you're me) made sure to taunt as much as possible while doing it. I pretty much ONLY hit the taunt button with Dan and no other character.
Here's where the game is so far. Lots of changes, I know we'll see more before February. kara throws? bye bye! Ryu's getting nerfed which he has EVERYTHING a player could want at his disposal already so that's fair but I expect Ryu players to whine anyway. If that keeps me from having to play 15 Ryu players in a row online...i'm good. It's like how I'm so sick of countless Jago players in KI. Seriously; I had 9 Jago's in a row, and since i'm killer tier, that means I had to play all 9 twice... for a grand total of 18 Jago matches in a row! ..I put my controller down and haven't touched that game for a month.
I didn't like 4 but 5 is definitely a game I'm keeping my eye on. The PS4 beta (when it worked) was great.
I liked IV and I played the hell out of it but..the whole, start combo then FDC into a combo or super...ugh. at 50, my fingers just couldn't pull that off regularly. I could hang playing Adon pretty well, but because of the whole FDC thing, I just think the most fun was in the high C's, where guys just went at each other without o many "tricks". Once you got to the B's in rank, things slowed way down and heaven forbid you get yourself into a guys combo you'd have massive loss of health. I like that they are making this more strategic and less "super fast combo finger" centric. Also like getting rid of so much safe stuff like little into medium into bigger combos. Seems much more "risk is commensurate with reward" this time. Just seems like your MIND will play a bigger role in this one vs tricky combos that require perfect timing.
The inputs were nearly impossible on the Xbox 360 for me. It was slightly easier on the PS3, but maybe it was just me but playing games like MVC and doing inputs were a lot easier for me. I would also make jokes that SSF4 stood for Super Slow Fighter 4. It didn't feel like a combo game, but more so like Fighting Chess. I'm a luke warm fighting game fan so if your eyebrows raised during any of that forgive me lol. All of my issues were pretty much fixed on SFV.
FYI The next beta is coming Dec 17th but beforehand there's a HUGE update. I'm going to keep checking in to see when I can update so i'm not wasting time on the 17th. http://www.eventhubs.com/news/2015/dec/01/street-fighter-5-beta-receives-v-106-update-playstation-4/
and good news for you because Gief will be available this time and I know how much he's your fav!...lol Checked PS4 last night and the update had already been installed automatically, now i'll just sit here and wait..My fightstick is supposed to release the 10th so hopefully it will be here in time.
Until I can get a PS4 stick or a means of using my Qanba on PS4 comes out I'm using this It's more comfortable than it looks. I miss my 360 Hori Stick though. I may get a Hori Stick for PS4 and mod it with Sanwa parts on a slow release month.
Well Damn, Now I don't know what to do. I have the Chun-Li TE2 stick on pre-order from Amazon with a color scheme I hate. But it will come Dec. 11th so and I could practice with it on Guilty Gear until Febuary or ...cancel my pre-order and get one of the two TE sticks at the same time as the game...decisions..decisions. http://www.eventhubs.com/news/2015/...-some-feature-full-touch-panel-compatibility/
and that stick is $30.00 cheaper than the TE2+ and has a longer cord as well. I'll have to research more but I think it's cheaper only because the chassis doesn't swing open like the TE2 sticks. You're right though, it does look damn good.
I'm sticking with my pad for now. Between tuition (I just HAD to take a $600+cost of book which won't be cheap sociology class) , My New TV, the actual game and a PS4, I may be broke by March.
Oh yeah, I remember those days! Best of luck my friend. Just cancelled my pre-order for the Chun -Li stick and saved $30 by switching to the TES Shadowloo stick. Plus, now I don't have to change artwork, buttons etc. Big whoop that i'm losing the easy open option, It looks to be the same as my TE1 stick except it has a track pad and since I never had a problem getting into that to change the buttons or restrictor plate, I should be fine with this one.
