Is that a cheap way to make you buy multiple flashcarts? If so, it's LAME.

A CFW has existed for a while, but it's only been shared among a select few in the 3DS hacking scene. No plans to make it a public release, because none of them want anything to do with piracy. Best we have is a leaked copy of a very early version, that's buggy and stuck on firmware 4.5.

Lately it is fashionable to come up with this stupid reason ...
Seriously, there is nothing to do, pierce a console inevitably leads to piracy. I can't understand all this no-sense respectability ...

OMG :D I recently was gutted because I updated my 3DS and regretted it. So looking forward to this!

Am I the only one that wants the Japanese exclusive Pokemon eShop content dumped! It would mean westerners could play Tretta for the first time ever without importing consoles.

Pokémon Tretta was never released in the eShop, though. Retail only as it requires special hardware to read the actual Tretta tokens.

Call me a hypocrite if you must, with my DS ROMs and Wii ISOs, but the less widespread, less cheap and less easy piracy on the 3DS is, the better. I do want the thing hacked, but mainly for removing the region lock and maybe some homebrew, and I'd be content if Nintendo just got rid of the former by means of a firmware update. That said, I bought Cubic Ninja earlier, when there were still cheap copies on Amazon DE, and I'm looking forward to what the exploit may bring regarding the two things I mentioned.

Piracy didn't seem to hurt PSP console sales. Probably can't say the same about games. I actually do hope that the 3DS gets hacked to Its full potential.

IMHO homebrew actually helps console sales, especially handhelds. I like being able to play NES games on the train.

Console sales surely won't be hurt by homebrew nor piracy - and yeah, they might actually help with them -, while piracy will at least affect game sales to some degree. I don't think it'll outright kill a console or game sales for it, like other people do, tho. There's gotta be many people who just download and play games they never intended to buy legitimately anyway, so that won't be a lost sale... You could maybe even argue that this might lead to a few more sales, with people who liked a game they downloaded wanting to support the developer by buying the game afterwards - that happened with me personally before, although mostly with games of previous generations.

Still, with all the variables, many of which I don't know and couldn't estimate, I'd rather not have easy and cheap R4- or USB Loader GX-style piracy on the 3DS.

I miss the days of demo discs.. Yeah there still around here and there but for some good underrated games that don't have a demo, they'll stay that way..

That seems to be the case, but I don't think anyone has definitive proof yet that it is not something to do with the hardware.

There was a free app you could download in the Japanese eShop, that allowed you to use the hardware

Piracy is an inevitability for all consoles. I hate the fact I can't have my homebrew and hacks and tools because people are scared of helping piracy happen.

I can't say I blame them but people need to accept that it'll happen with or without them and by hindering homebrew you hinder homebrew.

So I went around the stores today to search for Cubic Ninja. I went to EB Games, Target, Kmart(Walmart), and JBHIFI (upscale electric store).
Appears EB has been asked to remove all copies from the shelves, funny thing is EB had only ordered one copy in store in my state. What the fuck?

Ran into eBay and did a quick search. Now last night there was one Australian release of the game on auction for $26. I max bid $50 and it's now AU$90. It's expected to go up considering the amount of bidders. Now being 6-8 hours later there are more than 10 copies listed. Varies from $55 to $180. Most being listed as "CUBIC NINJA HOMEBREW", it's clear to say the price of the game will infact go up.
As many of you said that no one gave a fuck about the game before this exploit and was selling for around $7 and possibly even less.

A few BINs have been $50 but that was only one auction which I managed to snag a copy. So if any of you have one and it's selling like fucking crazy, now is your time to make money. Use the exploit and pass it on!
Also, here's a quick comparison on just how much the market is going ape shit:
    http://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&_nkw=cubic+ninja&LH_Complete=1&rt=nc

The real mature thing to do here though, is to wait for Gateway to happen, this exploit is basic but it's fun to be around and inside the scene early on. As long as you don't do anything stupid hahaha.

The files for the hack haven't been released yet, have they?

There will be many pissed off people if the hack was patched or not released.

I've always wondered if these exploitable games where made exploitable on purpose by the devs, ie: someone at ubisoft back in the day, intentionally made it so Splinter cell saves had little protection.. And then come back a year later under an anonymous name online and release an exploit

DS piracy is the reason why some games did not have localizations.
You can't. You need the game every time.
It's better to have 4.5FW 3DS for Gateway.
