If the FC version of Contra is on the first cart, then it might be worth a little more than other multis, but not much more. The second cart is neat because of how they added the "1" to the label. I'm guessing, based on the labels and the plastic, that these aren't glob-tops, which means they're older and usually of a better quality.

Because it's so much cheaper and easier I guess.

I'm picking up Soul Edge or Soul Blade (don't remember the name of the game but it's one of them) - anyone ever even hear of it? could be the same as the MD version. weirdness... can't wait.

also anyone know what game MONSTER for the SFC could be? an unlicensed game maybe? apparently you go around shooting monsters and picking up weapons. haven't seen any screenshots of the game just the label which (a blurry picture of it anyway). sounds like Contra - should I pick it up anyway?

picked up the Soul Blade game today. it's like the MD version only alot better. nice sprites, fast gameplay and a combo system, good music, decent intro and start up screen. will be posting screens up.

Monster will probably be the beta version of Zombies Ate My Neighbours. I remember back in the days of being a ROM kiddy we had that beta months before the final game actually hit the stores under Konami's label rather than Lucas Arts who actually made it.

The strange thing is, back in the day when I first head of Sould Blade on SNES I tried the rom, but the emulator didn´t like it. And it froze after the fight began. Has that been corrected since in SNES9x ?

Are you sure that wasn't Tekken? That also doesn't work on real hardware via a back up system.

I don't feel like creating a new thread for this, but does anyone own Naruto RPG for the Famicom? I'm not looking for a ROM, I just want to know if the battle system is based on the ATB (Active Time Battle), like the pirate version of Chrono Trigger for the Famicom. I doubt they went through the trouble with Naruto RPG, though they surprisingly implemented an ATB system in Chrono Trigger. Based on the few screeshots that surfaced (http://www.geocities.jp/rinkaku89/pachigame3/64_fc_naruto.html), the battle system seems to be very traditional, but I would really like to he from an owner of this game (new screenshots and a description of the battle system and the plot would be sweet, also).

I like those kind of games...

I remember when Street Fighter 2 for NES was released ( Yoko Soft ). Wasn't that great, but people bought it anyway. Then that "Street Fighter 3" came, and was actually good and playable!

Those shots of the battle system look pretty similiar to shots from other games. I've yet to find many pirates from that Nanjing company that don't use the same engine, and this doesn't look like an exception. Boring and repetitive. Nothing they make is ever good, ever :( Wouldn't doubt the music is deafening too :p

i don't know it this is the right thread for this but reading through i think it is but couldn't really find out much info on this title, and it hadnt been posted here reading through.

i have an english version of metal slug for gbc. it has the box art for metal slug second mission for the neo geo pocket as its label and also has a region tab in the style of an official cart at the bottom saying it is an american version. but theres no developer screen or anything when you play it.

edit : anyone got any info on this??

Just another pirate metal slug game. In fact, it sounds like one my niece has. It's not uncommon to see mixed up crap with Chinese pirates.

I have, for instance, a Dragon Ball Z game which came with USA box art, fake Nintendo case, and sticker on the cartridge saying (In Chinese), Chinese Language version. And when you boot up the game, it has an intro for a Chinese hacking group! Naturally, I assume it was the group who ripped the game and translated it.

Could be a rom that was translated on the net that some piraters just put on a cart.

Man I hope my Sonic 2 hack ends up on a cart someday :p
