Is that the full image? 1024x793 isn't that big for print.

2000 yen for a DC sounds reasonable to me. 3800 is maybe a little steep. Why do you figure they're going up in price?

I just looked at my DC game cases and it's like I remembered. The ones with the white inserts are identical to those on standard CD cases except that there's an empty box where the "Compact Disc" logo would normally go. I have 3 Japanese DC games, and only one of them (Daytona USA 2001) has a white insert. Shenmue has black inserts, and Sonic Adventure 2 (the one that came with the Sonic Birthday Pack) has a clear insert. They all have the little empty box, though. I'm guessing white inserts are more common, though.

If you want to still donate, donate.

I'm going to send the extra money to a charity for Sendai.

Dreamcast has NEVER been that cheap in Japan. There was a very brief point where they were 1000 yen but that didn't last long. It was also around the time when a Sega Saturn with no accessories cost 200 yen but again those days are long gone.

Well, I can't find the back cover so I made my own. It's 100% accurate as far as the Japanese DC design goes and the story. I have used the official Japanese story that did feature on the game's press release. It's in Japanese of course but for those of you who want to read it, here's a machine translation. I'm too lazy to do it myself.

The fear with which a planet is seized suddenly... The planet and SU SANIA in the far other side.
The long civil war which chooses that as the" natural party" which tries to seal up and live with nature with the" technological party" which made the exaggerated technology found from antiquities a background there and also comes in 10 was continued.
But the civil war also welcomes a finish with the global federation's which didn't overlook a terrible sight going out on arbitration rapidly.
SU SANI family who split has begun to take a hand each other and walk the way of rehabilitation each other.
But its peace didn't also continue lengthily.
The ancient communications device you should seal up evoked an incarnation of destruction" queen" during wartime.
A queen makes a hole to different space and sends a MEO meter to a SU SANIA star.
A nightmare of a slaughter "Great and KATAKURISUMU" has started again.
    It's even little after extinction.
1 new and powerful machine sallies now to stop queen's invasion.

    and here's the cover

Wow that back cover looks great. Those screen shots make the game look great.Makes me think the dreamcast would have probably had graphics comparable if not surpassing the latest psp games but with higher resolution/textures.

    @ yakumo

    Nice work man, very neat.

I just wanted to be cheeky and ask if you have the main image/layout without the japanese text?

I ask as you said you made it yourself and as I was going to make a PAL design i could use the images but its awkward with the text over them.

If not its cool but just wanted to ask

    Thanks

    Rob

@Assembler, to send the extra money to a charity for Sendai is a very good thing!
@Yakumo, since the pressed/burned version for donators is no GD Rom maybe the GD Rom Logo should be removed ;)

Excelent work Yakumo, everyone I have showed these covers to LOVES them! Now it is as offical as can be!

Quick question guys, so this is the full game, and is a newer version build with everything that was ready to got to the printing presses than the last version that was found? What I am trying to say is, is it more than the 3 levels that the first GDR had?

    NTSC-U covers!

Yes, there are more than 3 levels but I don't want to spill the beans so I'll let ASSEMbler let everyone know when the time is right. Let's just say it's a very exciting time for DC fans and that the disc is very playable.

Nah, I'll leave it on for completions sake. I want it to look as official as possible.

Been working on cleaning up the Japanese cover a bit. Of course, I don't know Japanese so its been hit or miss on if I got stuff right, but it is how it is :p Working with vectors or high res bitmaps for most of what Ive cleaned up so far. Of course, this small version has tons of JPEG artifacts itself, but they arent there in the actual image (which is around 3300px large, but of course the original artwork is still the original size). Work in progress obviously.

Actually, it's the dpi we look for, not size. 300dpi is normal, anything under 200dpi won't print very well. Most web graphics are 72dpi. You'd also crop it to the correct size, so it should be cropped so the height of the label is 120mm. Plus there'd be a bleed.

On top of that, proper printing is done in CMYK, which these files will invariably not be.

Yakumo's large scan is 1024x793 @ 100dpi, which is approx. 10"x8". You wouldn't be able to print professionally at that resolution. That said, it's not proper print-ready CMYK artwork, so it doesn't really matter.

Yeah, this is the greatest year so far it looks, so many new games never before playable on Dreamcast! Sturmwind is also going to be something I want to get as well as Gunlord, man, nobody can say the Dreamcast has a shortage of new shooters!

Just can't wait for my SD adapter to come in from China, then I will have everything I could want for my Dreamcast!
