No joy using GDEMU either, it doesn't even recognise it as being a music disk. I normally use GDMenu to build the SD card and even that throws up an unhandled exception error when trying to add it. Had to add it manually. If you want me to test anything else let me know...

...can anyone explain the difference between v1 and v4 again?
Irc, the v1 needed a software update once? That's it, nothing else?

Correct, only difference is the a hardware revision, they function exactly the same.

So, I just got my USB GDROM in the mail today. Problem is, I don't think I can install it. My dreamcast is a revision 2. Thing is nowhere on his site or Stone Age Gamer does it say that the USB GDROM is only compatible with a revision 1, or not compatible with a revision 2. Is it not compatible with a revision 2 dreamcast, or am I overlooking something here?

I seem to remember it has to be a version 1. Yeah, a bit weird that it does not say that anywhere..

yes, you use the game disc as your swapped image and boot with codebreaker, but you need to have the lid switch installed

    hi guys,

May I ask how long it took for a reply back on an email order to mnemo? I've waited about a week with no reply back yet.
Is he still taking orders? I hoping he does.

Let me know what your experience is on this.

    thank you...

It probably took me 2- 2 1/2 weeks to get a reply from him. Keep in mind he runs the entire production himself, and we are heading closer to the holiday times so he could be very backed up at the moment.... He is still taking orders because I received mine this last week. Word of caution, make sure your system is a rev.1. I have a rev.2 and had to find out they are not compatible. Nowhere on his site was it mentioned, so it was somewhat aggravating.

Thank you for your reply. Awesome. I knew he was busy and not going to reply back quickly but just wanted to see what kind of time frame I was looking at. I do have a rev 1 unit so I'm good there, thanks for the heads up..
Will wait anxiously for his reply for payment to him. :)

I sent a few emails and never once got a reply over many weeks/months. I already had him on messenger and I'd see him online every once in a long while for very short periods. Once when I saw him come online I quickly messaged him. He told me he had a few boards for sale and gave me a price and a PayPal account. I was a bit apprehensive transferring hundreds of dollars to some random guy on ICQ who is difficult to reach and contact at the best of times. It worked out as some weeks later my USB-GDROM's arrived safely...

Hi! Anybody can tell me how it work with an hard drive. I received my version 5 yesterday and everything works fine with an usb flash drive. I use fat 32 with 64k with the root init 2. But nothing work with hard drive. I tried a La cie 300 gigs and WD 500gigs hard drives with same fat and root structure, when I power on the console, it only show orange dreamcast logo on screen. I cannot see the usb gdrom menu. Thanks

Some HDDS are not compatible, I have one that sometimes requires a few power cycles to initialise the drive.
(or I get the hanging blue/orange swirls screen)

I am a similar hard drive issue with my Toshiba 500gb. I get the menu, but after selecting an image it hangs on the dreamcast logo. It has worked on my USB flash drive fine. My flash drive is limited to 1gb though so I have only been able to run a game at a time. I need to reformat my hard drive and see if that works.

Reformatting the hard drive didn't work for me. Is fat32 limited to 32GB partitions using windows if I understand correctly? I looked around to find if toshiba made a formatting software, but they don't. I looked for 3rd party software, tried it and still nothing. WD has software available for their hard drives though to format to fat32. I don't really want to buy another portable hard drive, as the 500gb one I have now isn't even half full, but if I can't get it working, I will probably buy a new hard drive.

I will try it out tomorrow afternoon and let you know how it goes. I soldered in the lid switch. I got gameshark up and running fine. I wasn't able to get Bleemcast Metal Gear Solid running though...

Not necessarily, I would wait for someone else to chime in first before verdict. I did get my portable hard drive formatted in fat32 though, so that's all good. I REALLY wanted to play MGS on Bleemcast, so I will continue going at it.
