What is the conversation with her ghost about? Since you said remnants im assuming its incomplete but it would still be cool to have a idea of what was said.
I have no idea, been about 5 years since I messed with the debug mode, but if you visit the church in disc three there is a translucent Aeris on her knees tending to the flowers when you approach she stands up and disappears. I've made a habit of going back there on every play through just to confirm it.
The Lara Croft nude code was actually an April Fool's EGM trick, was it not? And I thought that Aeris's ghost did appear in FF7... There were a lot of Street Fighter 2 and Mortal Kombat myths back in the day, if I recall correctly.
You definitely can see a translucent image of Aeris in FF7, but no one really knows if it's a glitch or if it was placed there on purpose.
I think it was on purpose. I bet someone over there wanted to put her in there just to mess with your mind...lol. Like a subliminal message or something. Stuff like that is quite common in Japanese media.
I remember when PS2's came out, I heard that they were "so powererful that Iraq bout hundreds of them to launch nuclear missles!!" As for in-game rumors, I was told for years by friends and magazines that you could get a level select in Sonic 3 if you pushed a bunch of buttons at a ridiculous speed just before the game starts. I tried doing it for weeks to no avail. I know I've seen the code mentioned in cheat books too, but I am convinced that it's not possible. I even found a save state once that said it started right there, but it just crashed the emulator!
What if I told you I had a gaming magazine that showed a nude in-game lara in a Saturn Tomb Raider advertisement? And it was an official add too =)
I'm still not convinced. I wasted so much time on that too  I think there was also a level select for Sonic&Knuckles which was somewhat easier, but I don't remember it.
i remember some magazines stating that it was possible to get a secret capsule in megamanX's mine level that would allow X to shoot hadoukens...
There is one videogame myth that turned out to be proven by a magazine, but my buddies knew years ago. We were in Middle School when we discovered it and didn't surface on the magazines until we were in High School. I'm talking about Goldeneye and the button codes. For many times people, and Rare (I believe they did) denied button codes didn't exist. But low and behold they surfaced . Instead of slaving away and trying to beat the levels at a certain time to unlock cheats (which was much more fun this way), my friend from back then showed me a button combination that gave me the invincibility cheat for it. I was astonished of course. We didn't have Internet at that time so we couldn't 'spread' the word to the world like people do these days. I got into an argument with a jock about this and proved him wrong when I showed it in front of his face.
I think that one might have been true. I remember seeing it in a magazine, you had to freeze a bat with your freezing weapon and use it as a step to reach an ordinarily inaccessible ladder.
Yup, it's real. And you can get a Shoryuken in Megaman X2. In MegaMan X, you need to get all the pieces of the armor, defeat all the bosses, get all the energy tanks, and 9 lives. Get to the Armadillo's stage, and way up to the end, there's this mine-cart that will fly you to the boss's quarters. You have to get there with full life and all four tanks full, then take the cart all the way up and JUMP! at the last possible second, climb the wall above the boss's lair, and you'll get to Dr. Light's capsule. He'll be dressed as Ryu. If you didn't get the capsule, jump into the cliff and try again (That's why you needed the 9 lives). I don't remember how to get the Shoryuken in X2, though.
