http://www.gamespot.com/news/2005/09/15/news_6133335.html Have you ever laughed out loud really bad before when seeing something? It's that bad. Thank you Nintendo, for a horrible looking gameplay experience.
Well i was about to post it but i guess you got wind of it too, all i can say is im dumb founded followed by wtf??? All i can say is im speechless atm and dont really know how to feel about the thing, i only hope that nintendo can really prove this is another way to play games, i can see now why 3rd parties are calling it a qutie different system to develop for.
You see, that is why I am laughing. How does Nintendo propose to get developers to create games on...a remote. Seriously, this has to be a poor joke by Nintendo.
So, we're now playing our video games with our remote controls. Whatever happened to the simple controllers of NES and SNES? You know, the comfortable ones.
Oh yeah, and to give you an idea on how uncomfortable this will be: http://img187.imageshack.us/img187/3334/whatthehellnintendo9nt.png Think about it for a minute: One hand used to hold the stick, and the other to hold the remote sideways. Even if you hold it like a remote, it would be difficult to use.
Read the IGN article, it explains the controller and makes sense. Also keep in mind that it turns sideways and you can use it just like the old school NES controller. Yeah, it will be tough for Nintendo, but if they are up for the challenge and this can bring some great unique titles, then I'm all for it.
I've been an outspoken critic of Nintendo's controllers since the N64 but this does seem interesting and will withhold judgment till more hands on reports are in. The only question I really have at this point is how are you going to reposition the controller to quickly get to those lower buttons with one hand? I don't see how so it basically negates the point of a one handed controller.
LOL....the NES controller is probably the least comfortable one ever made. I like this Revolution controller because it's something different. But I can't see this being the final design. There is only one or possibly two action buttons.
well i can say is this, when playing this thing if the games is frustratingly hard i can now officaly throw my remote at the tv (bad pun based on design).
wow, very interesting, i'm quite eager to see how games will make use of this, especially the motion sensor, i looks like it could have some really good potential. as far as playing games from other nintendo systems on it, the remote with the analog joystick looks like it would be just as comfortable as any other; here's hoping so. anyway i'm excited to see how this plays out, very excited edit: saw a little more info on it over at gamesarefun.com -Has sensors on it - understands up, down, left, right, forward, backward. Can be tilted/rotated. so apparently it's very responsive, hope it can be put to good use. ha i can see it now, if they make a gta for the system how much you want to bet you'll get to bitch slap some hos edit again: just read more about the demos there that i didn't catch before, and it looks like the thing works really great on metroid prime 2. i can so see the next nights game using this (remember naka describing air nights? sounds like this controller would be the perfect opportunity, and he's already stated he likes the controller)
Hm. I'll definitely be buying it. I was disappointed at first, but now I'm beginning to see the possibilities. Lets just hope they're fully taken advantage of.
Don't defend it till you try it. Don't say anything till you've done everything. That thing looks like a bad case of hemorrhoids to me. Not that NBintendo is losing a lot in my case since I was only maybe considering picking up a Revolution in five or six years or so, but still...that's bad. The only way it could turn out good is if they went for a modular design where you could add and remove right- and left-hand pieces depending on the game. That might be cool, maybe even revolutionary. But if these two pieces they've shown (especially the left-hand piece) are really all there's going to be, that's nothing but sad. ...word is bondage...
I think Nintendo is being a little too "blatant" about their new console being a game/media center, and that "game controller/remote" looks a little unrevolutionary, IMO. Wow, a remote control, I havent seen that before! Why Nintendo? Why? At least make that a remote for the media part and make a REAL controller for gameplay.
meh, I liked it. Anyway, as ugly as it is now, and as uncomfortable as we predict it to be, it really is too early to say anything. Besides, if the system and games are good enough, then chances are we'll be willing to get used to the controller. (I mean, at first, I despised the Gamecube controller. While I still didnt find it on the list of the top 50 most comfortable things ever, I eventually got used to it).
What's so revolutionary about taking the design of the NES pad, setting up to where its held vertically, and attaching an analog stick as an add-on, and making it wireless?
No comment on the Revolution not supporting High Def, but the pics being displayed w/ an HD Plasma screen in the back? I'm all for change. I'll wait until I play with it. I think the Playstation/2 controller is perhaps the shittiest ever, and I can still use it just fine. Ummm... all the shit it does? Did you read the article at IGN?
