I don't like how the cord on the controller comes out the front.

The Dreamcast's analog stick and triggers are a lot more sensitive than the Saturn 3D pad or any other analog pad for that matter. It is a very high quality gaming device that I wish saw more games to prove it. I just wish they hadn't removed two face buttons to make the controller more like a Playstation pad.

I don't think the Dreamcast or Saturn are more or less popular on the internet. The Saturn obviously has the better more full library if you include Japan exclusives. Both systems are hardcore Arcade consoles. Perhaps more casual internet forum goers write more positively about the Dreamcast because it has received more positive press than the Saturn has since its cancellation. They tried to pan the Dreamcast in the same way but the backlash stopped that tide handily by about 2004.

If we're talking about japan exclusives I'd say that the dreamcast library fares pretty well in comparison to the saturn one

This morning while checking my facebook I saw something that put the smile on my face considering i had been following this thread.
Sure puts some weight to the thread's premise when young nerdy chicks are posting Top 50 Dreamcast games links on facebook.
See how the link says "one of gaming's most beloved consoles."

Also, the reply below is in french but it translates to " There was more than 3 games?" . Lol, sure illustrates the stereotyped perception the average North American has about the later sega consoles. Thought i would share this :D

Ports really don't count, to me a franchise is dead if the owners don't put in the effort to make a new game.

Hydro Thunder, Bangai-O, Garou: Mark of the Wolves, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, Capcom vs. SNK 2, Power Stone...

If only Bizarre Creations had continued this naming system for their later driving games... which fictional city would they have gone with next, or did they run out of good ideas?

Getting late in the post but I'll bring my 2 cents :)

I don't think there was anything fundamentally wrong about the Saturn over the Deamcast, some systems stick in people 's mind more than others. TBH before the Saturn came out I completely let go of Videogames and spent my time playing on my guitar so I missed the PSX/Saturn/N64 generation I even traded my Supergrafx for a SNES in 94 bad times :(

I think the Dreamcast was a big step up or it felt like it at least visually, it was more of a happy console all in white and bright button colours compared to the sober Saturn, you know great 3D, Sonic was there at launch and all that Jazz, great games like JSR/MSR and Shenmue made it iconic yet doomed. I love both my Saturn and Dreamcast but yet for some bizzare reason I am more attracted to my Dreamcast unless it's about Thunder Force!!! No Thunder Force on Dreamcast was and still is a massive let down!!! We got 3 titles on Saturn, none on Dreamcast :( unacceptable!!! I need Thunder Force!!!

IMHO Saturn/Dreamcast same battle = gone too soon!!! Enjoy them!!!

    Reading your post again...

I think it's for the same reason people love Gran Turismo and I think it's the most boring thing in the world more than a root canal... It's all a question of taste.

I said that a few pages back, bot copied.

I'd still say 80-90% Virtua Fighter 2, Fighting Vipers and Fighters Mega Mix all lack hit SFX for example. World Heroes Perfect as askew life bars.

Another reason why I think they may like the Dreamcast more than the Saturn is based on how good the games looked in their time. The Saturn 3D games were always behind PSOne titles, and if you read magazines from the era, you might see letters from readers and game reviewers alike complain about the graphical problems when compared to the Sony's platform. I love Daytona, but back then Ridge Racer looked better, for instance. The fact that it was more expensive hardware surely did not help.

This did not happen with the Dreamcast, because the games looked great, those first generation titles had jewels like Soul Calibur (which looked better than the Arcade), and the prices were more fair, and got cheaper on the eve of the PS2 launch. We all got a positive first impression, even if many did not buy the console.
