Of course, the games were ment to be played on shitty RF and comosite video, hence why you need filtering to smooth out the blockiness on an emulator. I was just playing Streets of Rage through my 32" LCD via Kega Fusion with filters, and it looks stunning. Of course I perfer it to blockiness, but playing the game on RF ment no blockiness either, as the sheer crappiness of the quality acted as a filter :katamari:. Now I'm using a good signal on an LCD TV, I need something to replace that.

Ok, I'll have a look for that. SSFs the only emulator I've got to work so far

You could try an RGB or S-Video connection. At least that way you'd get original resolution at reasonable clarity, although it sounds like you'd consider this "blocky", and if you're on an LCD you're kind of fucked anyway. Are you even running your old games in 4:3? I don't mean it as an insult, I couldn't guess how many people play Castlevania:SotN on Live stretched to widescreen. A considerable majority probably, since it's the default. For most people this isn't an issue, but I seem to get pickier as I get older. My main objection was with you saying that high resolution, scaling and interpolation filters etc are the way the games were meant to look, when that's just not the case regardless of preference.

I voted 2600/Intv/Coleco, but to be honest it's only the latter half of that generation (SG-1000/Coleco-level) that I can get away with - the 2600 & Intv don't really do anything for me.

The SG-1000 has accounted for probably 80% of my gaming over the past few months.

The NES still sees regular play sessions although those days are numbered. Super Mario Bros. keeps it kicking.

And let us not forget the MIGHTY Duck Hunt!

During the Summer, SNES/Megadrive would be as far back as I'm willing to go, although they remain at my parents' place during the University year and so only current gen stuff sees regular play time when I'm away.

I do have some Master System stuff but eh..it's only played once in a blue moon.

    Eww widescreen!
...And it was more an exclamation\over-exaggeration than stating an actual fact.

    NES/SMS/MSX

Though only select games, and in case of MSX only MSX2 compatible games.

Now I read the options, why is the MSX in a different generation to the Coleco when they have the same hardware? The MSX 2 is a different if backward compatable machine.

As for the MSX, most of the games I found most playable have been MSX 1 games...

Good point. I guess they just lumped MSX and MSX2 together under MSX, which would ultimately make that a stronger hardware than Colecovision.

Hmm... you don't like Aleste II, Snatcher, MG2 Solid Snake, Space Manbow, Undeadline?

Personally, I can't really deal with the MSX1's lack of proper scrolling.

I usually play Sega Saturn and Nintendo DS several times a week. NES/SMS etc. is very much playable as well but they dont have so nice puzzle games, which make me turn them on when my friends arrive everytime :p

I'd have to go with the NES-era. I just never will get bored of those games.

The oldest one for me would have to be the Nintendo 64. I still can't get enough of the original Super Smash Bros.
