Neo Geo AES is the oldest system I own and play regularly.

I would have to draw the line at NES/SMS though. Anything older than that seems archaic.

Yea games really came into their own during the 8-bit revolution if you ask me. I didn't even like games during the Atari age at all.

Japanese famicom is my answer. Famicom and Super Famicom are my favorite systems.
Also I often play ZX Spectrum games on an emulator but I think I couldn't use the real one because of its looong load times.

NES. I'd played atari and other systems before it. But the NES is the system that had the games that turned me into a gamer.

This question is tough for me because I have so many systems that I don't always play them all for more than an hour a day.

I voted Atari 2600 because I can sit down and play my system for hours at a time and I normally play it multiple times a week. The Odyssey is a little too dated for me and it came out before I started playing video games.

I can sit down and play E.T. on the Atari for a few hours.... please don't call my therapist about this post... :110:

Hey there is no Atari 2600 icon below! or am I missing that wood grain somewhere?

I've been beating on my Atari Flashback 2 lately so I suppose I'll vote for 2600. Though I tend to do like most other people here with too many systems and go through periods with each system, neglecting the rest. I don't even have any current gen systems because I knew all I would do was emulate systems I already have on them or buy games already have in XBLA or Virtual Console.

Well, there's only 10 years in it!

    Ahh, I needed a laugh.

I don't know if I've said it before, but this thread totally contradicts itself. The title asks what you consider the oldest playable system, but the poll asks what the oldest system is that you can get yourself to play REGULARLY. Those are two entirely different questions.

I would consider the Odyssey playable, but with limited appeal. I'd still play some old Atari games. There are many NES games I would play still. And I could go on right up to date. However, recently I have only really played DS and 360. Not because I don't want to play anything else, but because there are games I'm playing on that and I never find enough time to do anything. So how am I meant to answer the poll?

I hope these people that answer Mega Drive, SNES etc. are referring to the oldest system they regularly play, rather than the oldest system they consider playable! The NES, Master System and PC Engine for example all have games that are still very playable today - if they didn't, they wouldn't have made it onto Wii.
